Who You Are:
  • You have a passion for working with the autism population and ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • You are a facilities and maintenance professional with experience maintaining buildings, equipment, and grounds in safe and fully functional condition.
  • You are skilled in performing a wide range of maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
  • You take pride in maintaining clean, organized, and well-presented environments that reflect high standards.
  • You are proactive in identifying maintenance needs, resolving issues, and ensuring preventative upkeep of facilities.
  • You work well independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, vendors, and leadership to support daily operations.

  • You are physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, including lifting, moving throughout campus, and operating maintenance equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (e.g., belts, bearings, filters) to ensure equipment efficiency and longevity.
  • Execute skilled maintenance work including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, and general repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of interior and exterior campus spaces, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure maintenance shop areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Perform supply runs and ensure adequate availability of materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and notify management of low stock or replenishment needs.
  • Prepare and ensure all vacant student/residential rooms are ready for new move-ins.
  • Complete and maintain weekly vehicle inspection and maintenance check reports.
  • Support campus operations by setting up furniture, equipment, and materials for events and daily activities.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Assist with additional maintenance tasks, projects, and campus-wide operational needs as required.
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members and utilize work order systems and digital tools as needed.

Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of facilities maintenance experience required.
  • Strong expertise in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems required.
  • Commercial, school, residential, or institutional facility experience preferred.
  • Vehicle mechanic experience and Certified Steam Boiler Operator certification preferred.
  • Trade certifications (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment servicing required.
  • Ability to perform supply runs and prepare residential/student rooms for move-ins required.
  • Ability to complete weekly vehicle inspection reports required.
  • OSHA 10 required
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with work order systems required.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and maintenance equipment required.
  • Must be self-driven, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently required.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage physical demands of the role (lifting, bending, climbing, walking) required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required trainings.
  • Student Facing Positions:
    • Must be able to react and move quickly during student crisis, both for the safety of the student and for the staff.
    • Must be able to run across the campus and throughout the school to catch/monitor an eloping student, and/or to remove yourself from an unsafe situation.
    • You must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
      • You must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, crouch or kneel for sustained periods of time if implementing a hold.
