Description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.

Position Title: Senior Maintenance Technician

Department/Team: Maintenance

Location: Onsite- Oceanside, CA

Shift (if applicable): Day Shift

Purpose of the Role

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving industrial manufacturing equipment to maximize uptime and production efficiency. This position requires an experienced, self-motivated technician who can independently diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, support CNC equipment, and mentor less-experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system failures to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Troubleshoot and repair CNC machinery, automated production equipment, and related manufacturing systems.
  • Modify, edit, and troubleshoot CNC machine programs as needed to support production and equipment reliability.
  • Install, align, relocate, and commission production equipment.
  • Perform machine calibrations and precision mechanical adjustments.
  • Utilize electrical diagnostic equipment, multimeters, and specialized tools to identify equipment failures.
  • Communicate directly with equipment manufacturers and vendors to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and implement permanent corrective actions through root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and work orders within the CMMS system.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while following OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior maintenance technicians.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to independently diagnose unfamiliar equipment using schematics, manuals, vendor resources, and logical troubleshooting techniques with minimal supervision.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC machinery and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety practices including Lockout/Tagout.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple equipment failures in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNC programming and editing experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Fabricate, machine, weld, and assemble parts, fixtures, and tooling to support manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic.
  • Experience with servo drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience.
  • Experience mentoring or leading maintenance technicians.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights when necessary.

The successful candidate is a highly skilled, self-directed maintenance professional who takes ownership of equipment reliability, approaches problems with a logical troubleshooting process, collaborates effectively across departments, and helps develop the technical capabilities of the maintenance team. This individual is comfortable working independently, solving complex equipment issues, and continuously improving manufacturing operations.

Expected pay for this role is between $38,08 to $42,09 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
