Title: Senior Commercial Asset Manager

Reports To: Vice President of Asset Optimization and Management

Location: Hybrid in Denver, CO; New York, NY; or Boston, MA — or Remote (U.S.)  Less than 10% travel.

Description:  Flatiron Energy is seeking a Senior Commercial Asset Manager to lead commercial operations of our utility-scale BESS portfolio. You will be the day-to-day owner for contractual and regulatory compliance, incentive program compliance, and project-level financial oversight—working cross-functionally with finance, operations, trading/market operations, legal, and external stakeholders (offtakers, vendors, lenders, and tax equity partners). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-ownership environments, is detail-obsessed about compliance and reporting, and enjoys translating complex contracts into actionable, measurable operating practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Contractual & Financing Compliance

  • Own compliance for offtake agreements (PPA/ capacity/hedges), ensuring delivery obligations, availability terms, cycling limits, and performance guarantees are met; manage notices, disputes, and liquidated damages when required.
  • Manage vendor-facing obligations across EPC, O&M, OEM/warranty, EMS/SCADA, augmentation, performance testing, and service-level agreements; track milestones and claims.
  • Lead periodic reporting and covenant compliance for debt and tax equity structures (DSCR tests, reserve funding, distribution waterfalls, financial/operational reporting packages, insurance compliance, required certifications, and audit support).
  • Maintain a robust contract obligation register and compliance calendar; drive proactive issue detection and resolution.

Regulatory & Market Compliance

  • Ensure ISO/RTO, FERC, and NERC compliance across the operating portfolio, including registrations, performance obligations, telemetry, audits, and required filings in collaboration with internal SMEs and external managed compliance service providers.
  • Coordinate with market operations on capacity, ancillary services, performance penalties, and settlement validation; support remediation plans as needed.
  • Highly desirable: hands-on experience in ISO-NE

Incentive Program Compliance

  • Lead compliance for state and regional storage incentive programs, including qualification, ongoing reporting, meter/telemetry validation, and performance tracking.
  • Partner with policy and development teams to operationalize new program requirements into commercial operations.

Financial Stewardship & Reporting

  • Interface with the Finance & Accounting team on project-level budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, accruals, and monthly/quarterly reporting to stakeholders (offtakers, lenders, tax equity).
  • Oversee payables/receivables processes to ensure timely invoicing, collections, settlements validation, and dispute management.
  • Validate market settlements, revenue share mechanics, and merchant vs. contracted revenue streams.

Governance, Risk & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain asset playbooks, SOPs, and dashboards that convert contractual terms into operating KPIs and automated controls.
  • Maintain a continuous risk register (commercial, regulatory, operational) with mitigation plans.
  • Support M&A/financings with data rooms, due diligence Q&A, and transition-to-operations planning.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in renewables asset management
  • Solid working knowledge of PPAs/tolling/capacity/hedges, project finance, tax equity, and lender/tax equity reporting.
