Senior Manager, Construction – Self Perform Electrical

About the Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing industrial manufacturing company focused on building world-class infrastructure that supports advanced manufacturing and sustainable technologies. They are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Construction – Self Perform Electrical to lead electrical self-perform construction operations across multiple large-scale industrial projects.
This leadership role is responsible for managing electrical self-perform teams while partnering closely with project management, engineering, procurement, project controls, maintenance, and operations from preconstruction through commissioning. The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading electrical and mechanical field teams on complex industrial or commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage electrical self-perform construction operations across multiple projects.
Supervise and mentor superintendents, electrical tradespeople, and field personnel to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
Develop and manage project schedules, staffing plans, equipment resources, and work procedures.
Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and permanent installations to support construction schedules.
Oversee utility, structural, equipment, and vendor installations while ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
Review design documents and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve constructability, scheduling, and specification issues.
Identify and resolve field conflicts, scope changes, and day-to-day construction challenges.
Ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
Conduct regular site inspections, safety reviews, and participate in safety meetings with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams.
Manage plant modifications and shutdown activities while coordinating construction within active operating facilities.
Serve as the primary liaison between construction, operations, maintenance, procurement, document control, engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
Review and approve staffing, equipment, and resource requirements for project execution.
Support procurement strategies and contract administration.
Assist with dispute resolution, project closeout, documentation, and lessons learned reviews.
Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
20+ years of construction supervision experience on large industrial or commercial projects.
15+ years of experience managing field personnel and construction teams.
10+ years of electrical construction experience as both a journeyman/tradesperson and supervisor.
Proven experience leading multiple electrical field crews while maintaining strong safety, quality, and production standards.
Experience managing superintendents and field crews across electrical and mechanical construction scopes.
Strong background in industrial MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
Experience planning and executing plant shutdowns and coordinating work within operating facilities.
Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.
Demonstrated ability to identify and manage project risks.
Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and team development skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, technical documentation, and financial reports.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, stoop, and work in physically demanding construction environments.
Ability to walk active construction sites while carrying tools or equipment.
Working Conditions
Combination of office and active construction site environments.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial work environments.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and participate in on-call support as project demands require.
