Senior Manager, Employee Communications: Corporate communications professional who can directly support senior business leaders and manage internal communications strategies to help advance company objectives, organizational priorities, and employee engagement.

As part of the Employee Communications team, this role will support those commitments to our people by providing counsel, coaching, and strategic internal communication support for cross-business line HR initiatives. This team member will partner with senior HR leadership and cross-firm colleagues in order to:

  • Align employees to the company''s strategy and priorities - where Schwab is going, why it matters, and how they contribute;
  • Help employees connect to the company's culture, reinforcing the company's employee value proposition and reputation as a great place to work;
  • Drive results and influence behaviors by helping leaders paint a compelling vision of the future and helping employees navigate through change;

The Senior Manager role will:

  • Use internal communications as a strategic vehicle for helping employees understand the firm's goals and foster engagement with leaders.
  • Work with leaders and peers to drive awareness of Schwab's culture with external stakeholders.
  • Write, edit, and produce multi-channel communications, collateral, and content.
  • Support leaders directly while also driving organizational and change management initiatives that may be company-wide, cross-enterprise, or business line-specific in scope.
  • Help maintain and enhance the reputation and credibility of company leaders, at both the corporate and business unit levels.
  • Recommend and execute a mix of effective communications channels, which may include speeches and presentations, internal meetings (webcasts, open Q&As, Town Halls), high touch experiences, leadership messages (written, audio, or video), feedback tools, and social media content.
  • Leverage measurement insights and best practices to track and report communications effectiveness and continuously refine strategies.

What you have

Functional:

  • A proven track record for strategic employee communications program visioning, planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Outstanding communications skills including listening, interpretation, writing, and strong judgment about when, how, what, and to whom to communicate.
  • The ability to distill complex issues and information into simple, digestible and actionable messages for audiences of diverse roles and levels, using a variety of communications channels.
  • Strong project management skills: ability to define success criteria, identify project risks and opportunities, bring in and partner with core stakeholders, and effectively manage scope, teams, timelines, details, and budgets.
  • Data analysis and interpretation experience.
  • Prior experience on integrated communications teams and/or with integrated approaches for achieving maximum impact; previous HR support experience is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience with the FirstUp platform (or equivalent employee communications platform) is preferred, but not required.
  • Change management certification is helpful, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years experience in corporate communications.

Interpersonal:

  • Proven Success building and managing relationships with senior leaders and business partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent personal presence and ability to provide strategic counsel to senior leaders.
  • Success leading through change by influencing and gaining alignment among diverse views and levels in the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and opportunities that may not be immediately apparent in a situation.
  • Demonstration of a 'can-do' attitude and collaborative mindset.
  • Self-motivated, prioritize on the fly, and manage multiple tracks of work simultaneously.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
