    The Role

    As a key member of Fidelity’s Facilities and Operations Engineering team, you will oversee, manage, and execute all critical maintenance activities and be directly responsible for the Uptime of the facility or campus. 

    The Sr. Manager provides technical oversight across engineering operations. This position requires the ability to supervise a highly trained multidisciplinary engineering team. The position is directly responsible for the daily maintenance of the electrical and HVAC systems, UPS systems, fire detection systems, and building automation and monitoring systems.  The Engineering Manager will ensure that critical equipment such as generators, batteries and UPS systems is tested on a prescribed basis, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.  

    The Sr. Manager will supervise staff and is responsible for evaluating training needs for the staff as well as preparing and implementing individual development plans in coordination with the site Director.  In addition, the Engineering Manager will directly manage vendors providing daily repairs and preventive maintenance work. The Engineering Manager will ensure that only trained vendors are working on Fidelity’s critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.  The Engineering Manager will ensure that all vendors and employees will perform work according to all state and federal regulations, and OSHA requirements as well as in accordance with Fidelity Engineering Standards and ISO 14001 requirements.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Oversee all preventive and corrective maintenance work for all building systems to assure critical power, cooling, heating, and uptime requirements are met with no adverse business impact.

    • Assists the Director with projects, budgets, plans, improvements, and continuous updates of department policies and procedures.

    • Demonstrates the ability to monitor multiple building systems, correcting deficient performance through BAS adjustments, on-site remedial maintenance and effective emergency response actions when required.

    • Direct vendors/contractors performing corrective repair activities.

    • Utilizes tools, processes, procedures, and notifies/advises director as appropriate to ensure the consistent flow of information and activities.

    • Responsible for Daily Log Entries: Accuracy, Content, Executable detail and associated Closure of reported issues in a timely manner. 

    • Review daily log entries / update engineering staff.

    • Assist with all department projects, plans and improvements.

    • Demonstrates ability to switch to standby generators and bypass UPS systems when an electrical alarm or failure occurs, consistent with procedures, communicating all actions taken through the escalation process.

    • Demonstrates the ability to employ both an electrical riser and one-line diagram to locate, employ or correct faulty electrical circuits and related protective devices.

    • Demonstrates the ability to select appropriate third-party resources in response to emergencies and normal work orders, communicating needs and schedules as directed by administration or management.

    • Demonstrates ability to operate fire detection and suppression systems, locate and correct trouble faults and follow proper system protection procedures when work is performed in areas covered by fire systems.

    • Demonstrates appropriate work habits, procedures, and an in-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations to ensure the safety of self, fellow workers and building tenants.

    • Reviews required documentation on all work orders, labor hour reports and overtime submissions consistent with corporate and departmental rules.

    • Ability to read / understand blueprints and specifications.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in correct handling and documentation of hazardous materials, refrigerants, electrical circuits, water treatment chemicals, solvents and cleaning supplies to protect personnel and property from undue risk.

    • Review rounds for completeness and accuracy.

    • Update and coordinate National Routine Maintenance Schedule.

    • Conduct prescribed rounds of all critical spaces and documents.

    • Update and review the daily engineering logs.

    • Develop and execute the Master Training Schedule.

    • Assist the Director with the IT change control process  

    • Review and approve all vendor security access.

    • Provide vendor/contractor quality control and ensure document compliance

    • Other site-specific duties as required to meet the intent of the summary scope.

    • Maintain strict management of the infrastructure operations and control systems to eliminate risk by unauthorized employees, vendors, visitors. 

    • Support Fidelity’s ISO-14001 Environmental Management System, ISO-27001 Information Security Management and regulatory reporting requirements.

    The Expertise and Skills You Bring

    • 5+ years of experience in similar role in a 24x7 mission critical operation

    • Demonstrated complete knowledge in electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.

    • Previous management experience

    • Technical training or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in a relevant (mechanical or electrical engineering) field

    The Team

    The Engineering Team is responsible for the 365/24/7 monitoring/triage and maintenance for all critical infrastructure systems. The team works to ensure equipment operates reliably, and the uptime for all facilities is supported.

    Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
    Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
