Brief Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Equity and Inclusion is a global role within the Equity Office, based in Rockville and reporting to the Director. This position is responsible for designing, managing and evaluating the execution of Equity Office work, ensuring programs, initiatives, and deliverables are implemented effectively, consistently, and with high quality.

The Senior Manager works closely with the Director to carry forward priorities and direction and plays a central role in translating Equity Office goals into coordinated action across a global context. This role requires a strong background in designing and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion programming, a global mindset, operational excellence and discipline, and the ability to manage work across regions while maintaining clarity, accountability, and follow through.

The Senior Manager supports the Director in implementing organizational strategy. The position focuses on strong expertise in DEIB and internal execution of USP’s Equity Equals Excellence, supporting sustainable and effective implementation through Equity Office programs and practices.

This includes training in equitable management practices and tools to promote engaged, collaborative, and results-driven work environments.

The Senior Manager, Equity & Inclusion, has the following responsibilities:

• Design, manage and execute approved Equity Office initiatives, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and at a high standard of quality.
• Translate direction related to Equity Equals Excellence into clear work plans, timelines, and deliverables.
• Coordinate and manage internal Equity Office workflows, ensuring work is aligned and progressed appropriately.
• Ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, and reviewed before submission for Director review and approval.
• Lead the development, maintenance, and use of measurement and documentation approaches to track Equity Office programs and outcomes.
• Oversee implementation of DEIB principles related to USP Equity Equals Excellence programs, activities, and learning efforts to ensure consistency while allowing for appropriate global context.
• Coordinate with USP global sites to support implementation of Equity Office initiatives in alignment with defined priorities and guidance.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and Communications to support integration of Equity Office work into people-processes and organizational practices.
• Oversee development and delivery of Equity Office learning content and program materials in coordination with Program Managers and Program Associates.
• Monitor and evaluate program progress and effectiveness, identifying risks or challenges and adjusting execution as needed.
• Manage timelines and deliverables related to Equity Office communications in coordination with Communications partners.
• Under the direction of the Director, provide direction and support to Program Managers and Program Associates to enable effective execution and role clarity.
• Apply continuous improvement practices by incorporating data, feedback, and reflection into future planning.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of USP’s mission and experience managing to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, psychology, sociology, human resources, business administration, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional (non-volunteer) experience designing, leading, implementing, managing, or supporting integrated strategic priorities in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex initiatives with multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
• Experience tracking and using quantitative and qualitative data to assess DEIB program progress and outcomes.
• Experience working in specific equity programming in a global context, with sensitivity to cultural, regional, and organizational differences.

Additional Desired Preferences

• Experience managing or coordinating organization wide equity or inclusion programs within a matrixed organization.
• Demonstrated ability to translate direction into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables.
• Strong project management and execution skills, including prioritization, sequencing, and follow-through.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across diverse audiences and global contexts.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when working with sensitive topics and information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management or collaboration tools.
• Experience working in a nonprofit or mission driven organization preferred.
• Certification in equity and diversity programming.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Functional supervision of Program Manager(s), Program Associate(s), and temporary staff, as applicable.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: USD $139,453.00 – $198,720.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
