Role Overview
SuperOrdinary is seeking a strategic and commercially minded Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis to serve as the finance partner to our new business initiatives.
This role sits within the Finance organization and serves as both the forecast owner and a strategic advisor to commercial leadership, brand partners, and internal teams. The ideal candidate combines rigorous financial modeling, fluency in marketplace and channel economics, and executive-level communication skills to guide the business through new-channel launches and profitable scaling.
This individual will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring leaders understand what the numbers say, what is driving them, and what to do about it, while aligning cross-functional teams to drive measurable commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Forecasting, Planning & Reporting (New Business Initiatives)
- Own the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly close reporting for new business initiatives and emerging channel P&Ls.
- Build and maintain bottoms-up, driver-based revenue models spanning units and velocity, price and promotion, GMV and take rate, affiliate and creator commissions, livestream hours, paid media spend, COGS and freight, returns, and contribution margin.
- Deliver weekly and monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast, with clear commentary on the drivers behind each swing.
- Partner with Accounting on month-end close, accruals, and revenue recognition for marketplace and commission-based revenue streams.
- Maintain reporting packages and dashboards that give leadership a single source of truth on channel performance.
- Manage and organize segmentation reporting for different business lines within the department
- Identify forecast risks and upside, quantify the P&L impact, and flag them before they land.
2. Strategic Finance & Executive Decision Support
- Provide financial recommendations to commercial leadership on how to enter, price, and scale new business initiatives and adjacent marketplace channels.
- Build business cases for new business lines, platform launches, brand onboardings, and market expansions, including investment requirements, payback, and margin impact.
- Run project-based financial analysis to provide strategic insights.
- Educate executive and non-finance stakeholders on channel economics, unit margin, and the levers that move profitability, based on the latest trend and updates on different marketplaces.
- Prepare board- and executive-level materials that translate financial results into a clear narrative and recommended actions.
3. Portfolio Profitability & Growth Analytics
- Partner with the leadership team to evaluate new potential business initiatives — sizing the opportunity, pressure-testing assumptions, and modeling the profitability and cash impacts before commitments are made.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews assessing performance by brand, channel, and SKU — including retail and DTC sell-through, marketplace fundamentals, trade and promotional spend, product margin, and content, affiliate, and livestream contribution.
- Analyze return on trade promotion, retail media, creator, livestream, and paid media investment — net of discounts, returns, fulfillment, and inventory carrying costs — and recommend reallocation where returns lag.
- Support long-range planning and multi-year channel roadmaps for emerging marketplace opportunities.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership & Process
- Collaborate closely with Accounting, Account Management, Creator, Paid Media, Livestream, and Operations teams to ensure planning assumptions reflect operating reality.
- Help translate financial targets into clear priorities and KPIs for execution teams.
- Stand up and strengthen FP&A processes, models, and data hygiene as new business initiatives launch and scale.
Qualifications
- 6+ years’ experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, or consulting, including time supporting a commercial, channel, or new-business P&L.
- Experience within Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and eCommerce/marketplace businesses is strongly preferred, ideally both. Beauty or Personal Care exposure is a plus.
- Understanding of TikTok Shop, Amazon, or marketplace economics OR strong analytical expertise with demonstrated digital commerce experience.
- Experience owning budgets, forecasts, and month-end reporting cycles end to end.
- Strong understanding of cash flow drivers, working capital, and cash flow forecasting.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with ERP and Financial Planning tools (e.g., NetSuite, OneStream) preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to executive and non-finance audiences.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities and high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
- Working knowledge of AI tools and how to apply them to financial analysis, reporting, and workflow automation.
Compensation: $130K-$140K + 15% annual bonus eligibility
