Senior Manager, Global Dangerous Goods Compliance

Position Overview
Arclin is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Dangerous Goods Compliance to join our Corporate Compliance and Regulatory Affairs team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, this role is responsible for ensuring global compliance with dangerous goods transportation regulations across Arclins North American and international operations while balancing business objectives, operational needs, and regulatory requirements.
The Senior Manager will serve as Arclins subject matter expert for dangerous goods transportation compliance, providing technical leadership, regulatory guidance, program oversight, auditing support, and training across the organization. The individual will partner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Trade Compliance, Manufacturing, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, and site leadership teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transportation of Arclin products globally.
This position has no direct reports and requires the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions through technical expertise, strong communication skills, and sound business judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Dangerous Goods Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Serve as the corporate subject matter expert for global dangerous goods transportation compliance.
- Perform transportation classifications for the sale and shipment of products, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Provide expert guidance on global hazardous and non-hazardous material shipping regulations.
- Review transportation regulatory requirements as part of product development, product change management, and new product introduction activities.
- Support Arclins Supply Chain, Logistics, Trade Compliance, Product Stewardship, and Regulatory Affairs functions regarding classification, packaging, marking, labeling, licensing, documentation, and transportation compliance requirements.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions and transportation modes.
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate business impacts and required actions to key stakeholders.
Program Management & Governance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve global dangerous goods compliance standards, procedures, management systems, and training programs.
- Establish governance processes to ensure consistent dangerous goods compliance practices across global operations.
- Develop and maintain dangerous goods compliance tools, resources, and management systems.
- Provide training and ongoing technical support to corporate and site personnel regarding dangerous goods transportation requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to transportation compliance and risk reduction.
Auditing & Risk Management
- Lead or support dangerous goods compliance audits of carriers, logistics providers, warehouses, terminals, and manufacturing facilities.
- Evaluate audit findings and drive corrective action implementation to mitigate compliance risk.
- Support transportation security audits and compliance requirements associated with applicable import/export regulations.
- Assess compliance risks and develop practical solutions to strengthen transportation compliance performance across the organization.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
- Investigate and report transportation incidents involving dangerous goods.
- Lead or support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as the corporate dangerous goods subject matter expert during transportation-related incidents and emergency response events.
- Coordinate ChemTrec emergency response notifications and support associated investigations, corrective actions, and regulatory follow-up activities.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, and Trade Compliance teams to ensure effective integration of dangerous goods compliance requirements into business processes.
- Support global operational initiatives requiring transportation compliance expertise.
- Provide technical leadership for projects involving product transportation, packaging, and logistics compliance.
Required Technical Expertise
Demonstrated expertise in:
- DOT (Department of Transportation)
- IATA (International Air Transport Association)
- IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code)
- ADR transportation requirements
- Dangerous Goods Classification
- Hazardous Materials Transportation Compliance
- Packaging, Marking, Labeling, Documentation, and Shipping Requirements
- Transportation compliance management systems
- Dangerous goods incident investigation and corrective action methodologies
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors degree in STEM discipline, International Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Dangerous Goods Transportation Compliance, Transportation Regulatory Affairs, Product Stewardship, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain Compliance, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting global dangerous goods transportation programs across multiple jurisdictions.
- Expert knowledge of dangerous goods transportation regulations and regulatory compliance programs.
- Experience developing and implementing compliance management systems and training programs.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and compliance assessments.
- Experience utilizing ERP and compliance management systems such as SAP, JDE, transportation management systems, or regulatory compliance platforms.
- Working knowledge of major chemical regulations including REACH, TSCA, WHMIS, CLP, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, organizational, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and drive action across multiple functions without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
Preferred
- Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP) certification.
- Experience within chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, advanced materials, industrial manufacturing, or hazardous materials transportation environments.
- Product Stewardship experience.
- Regulatory Affairs experience.
- Experience supporting global product regulatory and transportation compliance programs.
- Experience working in multinational manufacturing organizations.
Travel Requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25-35%, including domestic and international travel, as business needs require.
