An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacy leader to join a nationally recognized healthcare organization as Senior Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations. This executive-level leadership role offers the chance to shape pharmacy operations, mentor high-performing teams, and influence strategic growth within an expanding acute care hospital.
This position oversees inpatient pharmacy services for a growing medical center that is preparing for significant expansion, including increasing its medical-surgical capacity and launching a new critical care unit. In addition to inpatient services, pharmacy operations also support the Emergency Department, making this an exciting opportunity for a leader who enjoys building programs, improving workflows, and driving operational excellence.
Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across inpatient pharmacy services while partnering closely with executive leadership, physicians, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.
This leader will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy operations while implementing enterprise initiatives, improving clinical workflows, supporting staff development, and advancing quality outcomes across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment and has a proven history of leading pharmacy teams through operational improvements and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational and strategic leadership for inpatient pharmacy services
- Lead pharmacy operations across Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department services while supporting future Critical Care expansion
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, laboratory, and executive teams to improve patient care and operational performance
- Develop, implement, and standardize clinical workflows and pharmacy best practices
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, accreditation, and organizational standards
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, medication safety programs, and regulatory readiness
- Oversee medication utilization, formulary management, inventory strategy, and drug supply planning
- Mentor and develop pharmacy leaders, pharmacists, technicians, interns, and support staff
- Manage departmental budgets, operational performance, and strategic initiatives
- Partner with organizational leadership to successfully support hospital growth and expansion projects
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree
- Current Washington Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain licensure prior to hire
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Minimum five years of inpatient pharmacy experience within an acute care hospital
- Minimum three years of leadership experience with direct management responsibility
- Minimum two years of operational or project budget management experience
- Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams in a hospital environment
- Experience developing, implementing, and optimizing clinical workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- PGY1 or PGY2 Residency
- Leadership experience in a 24/7 acute care hospital
- Experience leading pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, and supervisory staff
- Experience supporting Critical Care/ICU, Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, Infusion, or Urgent Care pharmacy services
- Experience working in a unionized healthcare environment
- Experience supporting hospital growth, expansion, or new service line development
