    What We Offer

    The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $109,134-$145,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

    Location & Schedule

    In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver International Airport.

    The schedule will follow a 5/8 format (5 days/week with 8-hour shifts) and is subject to extended on-call coverage for irregular, snow, and emergency situations.

    We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Emergency Management to join our team!

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures, institute industry best practices, and create standard work for all employees
    • Implements policies, procedures, business practices, and control mechanisms, reviews status of operations, modifies and implements procedures to increase operating efficiency, and determines effectiveness of desired results
    • Coordinate airport efforts with stakeholders, external agencies and leadership. Inform senior leadership of initiatives or activities during an event and obtain their support for plans
    • Develops and improves relationships among various work groups by encouraging, developing, and strengthening cooperation and leadership in inter-group relations and communications
    • Develops and implements staff training and development programs that provide opportunities for individual employee growth and long-range development of employees
    • Coaches, mentors, and challenges staff. Champions continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Leads staff development initiatives that include training, development and succession planning.
    • Recommend and implement plans, policies, programs, and projects
    • Other duties as assigned

    Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

    We are looking for candidates that bring strong leadership, organizational and communication skills along with diplomacy skills that will promote good relations. In addition, we are looking for individuals with three or more years of experience in the aviation and/or emergency management field including some or all the following responsibilities:  

    • Maintain relevant certifications such as FEMA certifications, EMI National Advanced Emergency Management Academy, AAAE ACE, AAAE Certified Manager or AAAE Accredited Airport Executive.
    • Ability to lead, engage and develop a diverse team of professionals who have a variety of duties related to both Airport Operations and Emergency Management. 
    • Experience in an EOC and/or leading Emergency Management Initiatives
    • Experience using a variety of software and systems including Power BI, Excel and PowerPoint to make notifications and present information. 
    • Ability to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening to obtain an OSN (Operator Security Number) from CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) through successful completion of a certification as a condition of employment. Must take and pass an online test every two years to maintain certification.

    Required Minimum Qualifications

    • Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).
    • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of supervisory, administrator or specialist level experience in an aviation environment or within a specialized functional area.
    • Education and Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
    • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
    • License/Certification Requirement: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
    • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

    Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts
