Position Specific Description

This is a critical role that will lead NextEras new reactor licensing team located in Jupiter, Florida.

Job Overview

Employees in this job manage and oversee licensing and regulatory compliance activities and staff and act as liaison between agencies, regulators and site organizations. Employees in this job monitor and improve plant licensing and regulatory compliance performance and manage activities supporting continued cost-effective plant operations in accordance with regulations and the plant licensing basis.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates licensing activities between onsite and offsite organizations, agencies and the fleet
  • Interprets and ensures compliance with NRC requirements, NRC communications, reports and correspondence, and the operating experience feedback program
  • Manages the site NRC interface function for NRR, applicable NRC Region, and the site resident inspectors
  • Monitors and improves performance of the site licensing organization
  • Supports ongoing fleet operations and is jointly accountable with the fleet for fleet excellence initiatives
  • Manages and develops employees and oversees licensing staff and site personnel training
  • Maintains familiarity with specialized and technical equipment and processes
  • Maintains knowledge of industry best licensing practices and Code of Federal Regulations guidelines
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience: 10+ years
  • Nuclear Experience: 7+ years
  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 7+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Senior Reactor Operator Certification
  • SRO License - Active, Inactive, or Prior

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Engineering or related science
  • Experience in at least two of four disciplines: Operations, Licensing, Nuclear Support Services (Nuclear Oversight, Training, INPO Loanee, Nuclear Operations Support, Nuclear Projects), Engineering/Technical Support (Engineering, Radiation Protection, Chemistry, Safety, Human Performance)

Nuclear Specific Preferences:

  • Site or fleet licensing experience
  • Multi-site experience
  • Code of Federal Regulation or NRC interface experience
