You will lead process scale-up, manufacturing support, technical transfer, process validation, supplier/coman technical oversight, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for nutraceutical ingredient manufacturing operations. You will ensure that all products follow quality and regulatory standards while supporting the delivery of on-schedule, cost-effective production at both internal and external manufacturing sites. You'll partner cross-functionally to lead food ingredient manufacturing efforts from feasibility and product scale-up to commercial production, assess new raw material and co-manufacturing suppliers, drive continuous improvement initiatives, provide support to contract manufacturers, and act as a technical liaison across internal and external stakeholders.

What you will do:

Process Development & Manufacturing Support
  • Responsible for technical process development, optimization, and troubleshooting across internal and contract manufacturing operations
  • Responsible for process qualification through all stages from pilot to commercial scale-up and ongoing process verification, ensuring relevant standards are maintained throughout
  • Supports day-to-day operations to ensure the manufacturing process is maintained in a validated state, consistently meeting applicable cGMP, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Provides technical leadership in the investigation and resolution of manufacturing deviations, process failures, and performance issues
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives that improve cycle time, productivity, process robustness, gross margin, and production capacity
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation supporting manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with Quality and regulatory standards
Raw Material & Supplier Technical Oversight
  • Partners with raw material suppliers to understand upstream manufacturing processes, identify sources of variability, and drive improvements that enhance raw material quality, cost, and consistency
  • Evaluates and develops pre- or post-processing approaches to optimize incoming raw materials for downstream manufacturing performance and product quality
  • Supports technical qualification/validation and ongoing monitoring of key raw material suppliers, including specification alignment, process capability evaluation, and continuous improvement
External Manufacturing
  • Provide technical oversight of contract manufacturing operations to ensure processes remain validated and consistently meet defined critical quality attributes and process performance targets
  • Lead and support technical transfer of manufacturing processes to CMOs, including process scale-up, process qualification, and commercial readiness
  • Serve as primary technical liaison between company and CMOs for manufacturing, ensuring timely resolution of process deviations, investigation, and technical issues that impact product/supply
  • Monitor and trend process performance at CMOs (yield, deviations, purity, etc.) to identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Quality to evaluate and qualify new CMOs and raw material suppliers that meet technical requirements of use
  • Establish and maintain process documentation and technical packages required for technology transfer
What we need from you:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive manufacturing, process engineering, or technical operations within dietary ingredient, dietary supplement, nutraceutical/food, or specialty chemical manufacturing.
  • Must have some experience in food/food ingredient/nutraceutical manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience in process scale-up, technology transfer, and commercial manufacturing support
  • Hands-on experience managing both internal sites and external contract manufacturers (CMOs)
  • Experience with industrial-scale batch or continuous processing; distillation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with process development, process qualification, or technology transfer activities in regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience with natural products/botanicals a plus
Skills & Competencies
