Position Summary

Seaman Paper is a global manufacturer of specialty paper and sustainable packaging solutions serving retail, eCommerce, footwear, apparel, foodservice, and industrial markets. As the company continues to grow across products, facilities, functions, and regions, we are looking for a Senior Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) to bring greater structure, visibility, and accountability to how strategic projects are planned and executed.

The Senior Manager, PMO will build and lead a practical, results-focused PMO while personally managing selected strategic and cross-functional initiatives. This is a highly hands-on leadership role responsible for turning business priorities into clear project plans, aligning stakeholders and resources, identifying barriers, and driving initiatives through implementation and operational handoff.

The Senior Manager will work closely with executive sponsors and functional leaders to ensure that the organization is focused on the right priorities and projects have clear ownership, realistic timelines, appropriate resources, and measurable business outcomes.

Success requires strong manufacturing awareness, commercial and financial judgment, executive-level communication skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority. Equally important is a collaborative, coaching-oriented leadership style that builds trust while maintaining urgency and high expectations. The successful candidate will listen carefully, understand operating realities, address performance gaps directly and respectfully, and exercise sound judgment about when to support, challenge, or escalate while encouraging teams to surface concerns early.

Build and Lead the PMO

  • Establish and continuously improve a practical PMO framework that strengthens execution without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Create consistent standards for project intake, prioritization, business cases, project charters, scope, milestones, budgets, resources, risk management, change control, implementation, and project closeout.
  • Maintain an enterprise-wide view of significant projects, providing leadership with visibility into priorities, progress, dependencies, risks, resource requirements, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to evaluate project priorities and sequencing based on business strategy, customer commitments, financial impact, organizational capacity, and risk.
  • Identify competing priorities and resource constraints early and help facilitate decisions around timing, scope, and resource allocation.
  • Lead project and portfolio reviews focused on decisions, accountability, barriers, and next steps.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the PMO and recommend improvements to processes, tools, governance, and resources.

Lead Strategic Projects and Cross-Functional Project Delivery

  • Personally lead selected high-priority, complex, cross-functional projects from planning through implementation and operational handoff.
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear project scope, deliverables, milestones, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and ownership.
  • Coordinate execution across Commercial, Product Management, R&D, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Sustainability, Finance, IT, Human Resources, and external partners.
  • Establish clear, achievable project commitments with accountable owners, confirming that expectations, resources, dependencies, and deadlines are understood; proactively follow up to ensure commitments are met.
  • Monitor milestones, budgets, dependencies, risks, decisions, and resource requirements and drive corrective action when needed.
  • Identify issues early, facilitate resolution, and escalate decisions when timelines, costs, resources, customer commitments, or expected outcomes are at risk.
  • Lead or coordinate projects involving capital equipment, converting investments, facility expansions, supplier transitions, acquisition integrations, systems implementations, and business-process improvements.
  • Ensure projects account for safety, quality, customer requirements, sustainability, compliance, operational readiness, and financial objectives.

Drive Accountability and Results

  • Develop concise executive dashboards that provide a clear view of project performance, risks, resource needs, expected benefits, and decisions required.
  • Partner with Finance and executive sponsors to establish measurable financial and operational objectives for major projects.
  • Track post-implementation results, including revenue growth, cost savings, productivity, service improvements, capacity, and risk reduction.
  • Build change-management and organizational-readiness requirements into project plans.
  • Coordinate readiness reviews and operational handoffs to ensure new processes, systems, products, and capabilities are effectively adopted.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and incorporate lessons learned into future PMO practices.

Build Cross-Functional Capability

  • Develop strong working relationships across facilities, functions, and regions.
  • Coach project owners and team members on planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and follow-through.
  • Reinforce accountability while maintaining a collaborative and respectful working environment.
  • Address missed commitments and performance gaps directly and constructively.
  • Encourage teams to surface risks, challenges, and support needs early.
  • Help build a culture of disciplined execution, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Meaningful experience in manufacturing, industrial, packaging, paper, converting, or a similarly complex operating environment.
  • Experience establishing, improving, or operating a PMO or formal project-management framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities, dependencies, stakeholders, and resources.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with budgets, business cases, resource tradeoffs, and measuring business value.
  • Experience with capital projects, commercialization, product launches, systems implementations, process improvement, supply chain initiatives, organizational transformation, or similar complex initiatives.
  • Exceptional planning, organization, facilitation, problem-solving, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and create accountability without direct authority.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to navigate competing priorities and challenging situations.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on project execution.
  • Strong proficiency with project-management, scheduling, reporting, and collaboration tools.
  • PMP or comparable project-management certification preferred.
  • Change-management, Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
