As a Senior Manager, Software Development & Engineering Lead within Finance & Corporate Administration Technology, you will play a critical role in advancing Schwab's multi-year transformation by delivering scalable, high-performing technology solutions that support core finance functions. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution, partnering closely with product owners, finance stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise priorities and drive measurable outcomes.

This is an opportunity to lead with ownership, influence, and impact, while shaping how technology enables enterprise transformation.

You will lead multiple Agile teams responsible for both delivery and ongoing support of applications spanning core accounting, vendor management, regulatory reporting, and enterprise planning.

Success in this role requires strong decision-making and the ability to prioritize competing initiatives while maintaining alignment with business goals and evolving technology strategies. You will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, guiding teams through planning, execution, and release while ensuring quality, scalability, and operational excellence.

This is a people leader position that requires navigating a complex environment and includes managing full-time employees, contractors, and offshore partners. You will build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into actionable technology outcomes and communicating progress, risks, and opportunities to leadership. With a focus on modernization, you will help drive adoption of cloud-based and SaaS solutions, support the transition from legacy systems, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and user experience.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in information technology, including project delivery and vendor management
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams, including managing teams of 10+ direct and/or indirect reports
  • 5+ years of experience delivering medium to large, complex initiatives using Agile methodologies
  • Experience leading multiple Agile teams and managing backlogs aligned to business roadmaps
  • Experience with planning and coordination across initiatives, including release and change management
  • Experience working with SaaS platforms and migrating on-premise applications to modern architectures
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support
  • Experience building and supporting scalable, enterprise-level distributed applications
  • Proficiency with collaboration and workflow tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, global environment across multiple time zones
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD)
  • Experience working with both relational and NoSQL database technologies
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale technology transformations or modernization efforts
