TITLE: Senior Managing Director, In-Service Program Implementation

TEAM: Program Implementation, Corps Program and Leadership Experiences, CMLD

REPORTS TO: VP, CPLE

LOCATION: Flexible/Remote

THE ROLE

The Senior Managing Director, In-Service Program Implementation on the CMLD team is obsessed with building corps members' teacher leadership during their two year CM journey. The ideal candidate is focused on building an experience that prepares CMs with the pedagogical and leadership skills to achieve impact and build lifelong connections across the TFA network. They are responsible for planning and leading the implementation of direct-to-CM programs, specifically In-Service experiences.

The ideal candidate is a vision-centered leader who deeply understands how to craft and design key moment experiences for corps members and staff. They can develop a detailed strategy aligned to Teach For America's program model, Theory of Leadership, of 2CM Point of View. From there, they are able to execute that strategy for the full corps while building relationships and influencing a broad range of stakeholders. They will need to be dogged about achieving the vision for the in-service experience(s), while also providing capacity across the team on various strategies. They will need to be an exceptional project and cross-functional people manager who can provide clear metrics, direction, and deliverables to key stakeholders across the organization. They must have a unique balance of focus and flexibility and lead with equal parts strategy and relationships. They also ensure program implementation success across the team by providing additional capacity to meet various strategic needs.

The SMD, In-Service Program Implementation will report to the VP, CPLE, collaborate with the CMLD team, and manage laterally and cross functionally to plan and execute In-Service key moment(s).

WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the SMD, In-Service Program Implementation will spend time:

  • Leverage our 2CM POV to map out key moments in the participant journey and set a vision for an aligned 2CM leadership experience

  • Meeting with subject-matter experts teams, such as the Learning & Insights team, to build out a clear, aligned learning agenda for the experience that allows the team to iterate year-over-year

  • Partner across CMLD to design and plan the experience, in alignment with the experience vision, ensuring strong staffing plans, operations, session materials, and facilitation

  • Partner closely with regional and hub teams to ensure the local contextualization and implementation of the In-Service key moment, in alignment with a regional support strategy for In-Service

  • Engage in design sprints to determine regional needs and develop off-the-shelf resources and tools

  • Project manage the CPLE team toward key In-Service milestones

  • Facilitate staff training so that the experiences outcomes are clear to all staff who execute the program

THE PERSON

(45%) ARCHITECT AND STEWARD KEY MOMENTS IN THE CORPS EXPERIENCE. Plan and manage complex projects during our CM's in-service experience. Work alongside multiple layers of stakeholders, including corps members, students, and staff, resulting in a strong CM experience(s) and key moment(s) during In-Service and gaining insights into adaptations to the program in future years. Create a vision, align a strategy and manage the execution of In-Service key moment(s) that are both centrally and regionally facilitated while ensuring seamless integration across workstreams, such as operations, staffing, and program.

(20%) SET VISION & DIRECTION AND CONTRIBUTE TO A STRONG TEAM CULTURE. Steward the In-Service key moment(s) by leveraging key stakeholders and managing cross-functionally/laterally toward outcomes. Provide the broader team with clarity, as well as the tools, resources, and support to plan and execute the key moment(s). Project manage key stakeholders toward results. Flow capacity where needed and serve as a true utility player.

(25%) PARTNER ACROSS REGIONAL AND NATIONAL TEAMS. The Corps Program and Leadership Experiences team is responsible for designing and executing key moment experiences that demonstrate the strength and breadth of our national network and the power of localized, contextual experiences. As such, the SMD, In-Service Program Implementation plays an essential leadership role in ensuring a strong central program experience and the local implementation of that experience. This requires strong coordination across central teams, a thorough regional support plan, and eye toward execution. Support the maintenance of strong integrated partnerships with subject-matter experts to bring the strength and gifts of our national movement to bear on behalf of our corps members, while also creating and maintaining meaningful partnerships with local teams to ensure regions are equipped and supported to contextualize the experience. Establish impactful external partnerships to ensure that corps members have access to authentic experiences, and best-in-class resources.

(10%) FLOW CAPACITY TO MEET VARIOUS NEEDS across CMLD towards the end of optimizing program. Operate as a key member of the CPLE team and identify risks and opportunities to use the team's gifts and capacity for short-term projects.

THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience:

  • 8-10 years of aligned experience, inclusive of roles requiring direct management and strong lateral management, relationship building, and cross-functional leadership.

  • Significant experience designing, executing, and leading large-scale key moments in alignment with Teach For America's program model

  • Experience leading regional program

Work Demands:

  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, as necessary

  • Occasional travel may be required

THE TEAM

The Corps Program and Leadership Experiences (CPLE) team is responsible for designing and implementing innovative leadership development experiences that shape the most critical moments in the Teach For America corps member journey. Within this team, Program Implementation serves as the engine that brings these experiences to life by leading the execution of high-impact learning experiences, beginning with Pre-Service and expanding across the broader corps member continuum. The team partners deeply across national and regional functions to ensure corps members experience development opportunities that are ambitious, cohesive, and responsive to local context. Team members operate at the intersection of strategy, implementation, and cross-functional leadership, translating vision into exceptional execution at scale. Together, we are reimagining how transformative leadership development experiences prepare corps members to lead lasting change for students and communities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Tier A: $108,900 - $143,000

  • Tier B: $118,700 - $155,800

  • Tier C: $128,500 - $168,700
