    Position: Senior Manufacturing Engineer – 5-Axis MachiningIndustry: Aerospace, Defense & High-Complexity ManufacturingLocation: Birmingham, ALJob Type: Full-Time | On-SiteRole OverviewOur client is a high-complexity, engineering-driven precision manufacturing organization supporting advanced aerospace and defense programs. The work centers on true 5-axis machining—tight tolerances, difficult materials, and NPI-heavy programs executed on world-class equipment.This is not a desk-only CAM role. This role is for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who owns how parts are made from cradle to grave—from CAD model and machining strategy through validated production—while working directly on the shop floor during setups, prove-outs, and first-run builds.If you are a well-rounded engineer who has made parts, programmed parts, and now leads how parts get made, this role is built for you.ResponsibilitiesProgram complex 5-axis CNC components using Siemens NXDevelop, optimize, and validate advanced multi-axis toolpaths for high-complexity partsSupport and troubleshoot CNC machines running Siemens and Heidenhain controlsLead CNC programming and process development for: New Product Introduction (NPI), First-article builds, Complex and repeat production programsOwn machining processes end-to-end, from CAD model through validated productionDefine and optimize probing strategies to ensure accuracy and repeatabilityDesign and refine fixturing and workholding solutions for complex multi‑axis machiningCollaborate closely with machinists, quality, and engineering teams during setups and prove‑outsOptimize cycle time, tool life, process stability, and process repeatabilityCreate, maintain, and standardize: Production‑ready CNC programs, Setup sheets and documentation, Engineering and machining standardsProvide hands‑on shop‑floor support for troubleshooting and continuous improvementQualifications5–10+ years of CNC programming and manufacturing experienceProven experience programming 5‑axis CNC machining centersStrong proficiency in Siemens NX (multi-axis, surfacing, complex toolpaths)Familiarity with Siemens and/or Heidenhain CNC controlsBackground in aerospace, defense, or other high‑complexity machining environmentsSolid understanding of: GD&T, Fixturing and probing strategies, Material behavior and machinabilityWork Environment & ExpectationsOn‑site, shop‑floor–embedded engineering roleFrequent interaction with machines, tooling, and production teamsMix of programming, engineering review, and hands‑on supportFast‑paced, NPI‑heavy environment with high accountabilitySafety‑first culture with strict adherence to PPE and safe‑work practicesBrand‑new, climate‑controlled manufacturing facilityModern 5‑axis CNC and inspection equipmentHigh‑visibility, mission‑critical aerospace and defense programsDirect access to leadership—engineering has a real voiceLong‑term growth with a company scaling thoughtfully and correctlyRelocation assistance availableUniiited Staffing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
