Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer - Manchester, CT
The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for aerospace components that are critical to flight safety across both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft platforms. This role supports the entire manufacturing lifecycle, from evaluating raw materials and component requirements through establishing machining processes, routings, bills of material (BOMs), and standard work instructions.
The Engineer will work closely with production, quality, engineering, program management, customers, and outside vendors to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with aerospace specifications and quality standards. This position plays a key role in driving process improvement, resolving manufacturing issues, supporting customer requirements, and improving operational performance through lean manufacturing principles.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies
Creating and maintaining BOMs, routings, and manufacturing documentation
Supporting production operations, troubleshooting, rework, and repair activities
Interfacing with customers and internal stakeholders regarding manufacturing requirements
Supporting quotation and estimating activities
Coordinating manufacturing activities with outside vendors
Driving continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
Supporting quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction objectives

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting aerospace, defense, precision machining, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
Strong understanding of machining processes, manufacturing flow, routing development, and production sequencing.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, process sheets, and GD&T requirements.
Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, manufacturing instructions, and process documentation.
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for routing creation, BOM maintenance, inventory control, and production planning activities.
Experience supporting RFQ, quoting, cost estimating, cycle time analysis, and manufacturing feasibility assessments is highly desirable.
Familiarity with AS9100, aerospace quality standards, and customer-specific requirements.
Demonstrated continuous improvement experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
Strong collaboration skills with production, quality, engineering, supply chain, program management, and customer stakeholders.
Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and develop practical, cost-effective solutions with minimal supervision.
Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documentation and present recommendations to leadership.
Exposure to outside processing vendors, machine shops, and supplier manufacturing operations preferred.
CAD/CAM experience, ideally Siemens NX, is preferred but not required.
Candidates with manufacturing engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, machining engineering, or aerospace engineering backgrounds will be considered.
Equivalent combinations of education, military experience, technical training, and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered when accompanied by demonstrated process engineering success.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
