    Description

    Amazon Leo is an innovative program aiming to provide low-latency, high-speed internet to underserved populations across the globe through the deployment of a constellation of over 3000 satellites to Low Earth Orbit, and we"re looking for a talented Senior Test Engineer to join the Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) Manufacturing Team.

    As a Senior Test Engineer for the OISL Manufacturing Team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end Electrical testing process for a Line-Replaceable-Unit, from initial concept through sustaining support in production. You'll be the leading technical voice for a team of test engineers working on your product, solving challenging technical problems associated with testing an ultra-high-performing optical, electrical, and mechatronic module. You will serve as a key lynchpin connection design/development, factory operations, quality engineering, program management, and more as you drive the test processes we use from initial production introduction to full rate production. You will leverage your expertise in electrical system design and manufacturing to lead deep root cause and corrective action investigations for test yield failures. You'll solve complex industrial challenges associated with balancing production velocity, exceptional quality, and cost competitive production concepts while ensuring smooth technical execution of current production operations. You'll be a key animating force in the increase in production capacity through vision & execution of capital investment for production scaling & automation.

    Key job responsibilities

    (1) Conceptualize, develop, introduce, and scale production test methods for electrical and environmental tests for the Optical Head Assembly (OHA)

    (2) Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action investigations for devices that fail testing

    (3) Partner with Electrical Design team to improve robustness of electrical product design for future design iterations

    (4) Partner with Supplier Quality Team to improve the quality of electrical materials delivered to production

    (5) Partner with Operations and Equipment Engineering teams to industrialize and scale testing processes for OHA

    (6) Partner with Manufacturing Test Software Teams to continuously improve test software used in production

    A day in the life

    As a Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer, expect to spend 30% of your time in the production and engineering lab guiding others in test execution and forensic analysis of failed devices, 20% of your time in meetings with cross functional stakeholders, 40% of your time on self directed work such as data analysis, test method development, documentation, etc. and 10% of your time on professional growth and coacing for yourself and junior test engineers you work closely with.

    The OISL Manufacturing Engineering organization includes 50 manufacturing, process, industrial, and test engineers supporting operations in the production of OISL products for Space Flight. We provide manufacturing solutions to Amazon Leo to optimize production for safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
