Overview:

AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides comprehensive engineering support to the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center to reconstitute and modernize the Coast Guard’s aging fleet. Support spans Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Requirements Management, and Human Systems Integration. Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, to include, but not limited to: power supply and propulsion systems.
  • Research and develop ship propulsion systems, to include, but not limited to: diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems, and apply to applicable design and requirements.
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
  • Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery
  • Review and develop technical data packages
  • Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements
  • Conduct and oversee trade studies.
  • Provide knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
Pay Transparency Statement: AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $110,800.00/Yr. - USD $185,100.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
