Within MAI, the Advertising & Monetization team drives both direct (paid by the customer) and non-transparent (third-party funded) monetization across Microsoft properties. As the engine behind digital advertising at Microsoft—including our high-growth search engine, Bing—we’re redefining what modern, AI-powered advertising looks like at the intersection of product, data, marketing, and customer experience.


As a Senior Marketing Data Analyst on the Analytics & Applications team, your work will focus on helping MAI Advertising & Monetization Small and Medium Business (SMB) & Marketing achieve its long-term business and customer growth objectives through the creation of self-serve data analytics, insights, and reports. You will act as a strategic partner responsible for delivering data models, insights, and analytics that impact the ability to understand our SMB & Marketing ecosystem and enable the business to react quickly and drive business growth. Responsibilities


+ Conduct exploratory data analysis, create data models, and develop actionable insights to support decision-making for business leaders across Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering.

+ Identify and leverage appropriate data sources and contribute to developing recommendations.

+ Translate media performance into business context with impactful recommendations for marketing partners.

+ Analyze performance data, brand lift studies, and campaign reports to extract meaningful insights.

+ Determine appropriate analytical techniques and critically evaluate assumptions.

+ Share and simplify relevant findings and insights, ensuring presented results are accessible and accurate.

+ Support and consult with other teams and identify relevant data-driven recommendations.

Qualifications


Required/Minimum Qualifications


+ Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

+ OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

+ OR equivalent experience.


+ 3+ years of experience in digital marketing at a multi-franchise global brand.

+ 3+ years’ experience in scripting and data modelling in Python.


Additional or Preferred Qualifications


+ Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

+ OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 3+ years’ experience in data analysis using SQL.

+ 3+ years' experience in PowerBI and Analytics on Azure Data Platform.

+ Experience with marketing attribution, media mix models, and multi-channel ROI measurement.

+ Experience with measurement strategies across full-funnel media campaigns.

+ Exceptional business judgement leveraging analytical thinking complemented with a bias for action and execution/operational excellence.  

+ Communication and leadership skills to deliver data-driven insights at an executive level.


Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
