Job Description

The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for managing the marketing initiatives of multiple internal PPAI business units.  This role involves developing and implementing marketing strategies based on association objectives, ensuring alignment within brand identify and budget, while working independently to drive results, prioritizing and delivering on deadlines, communicating consistently, and reporting on performance. 

The Senior Marketing Manager ensures that all marketing campaigns within the assigned portfolio are executed effectively on time, with performance optimized across different channels to meet and exceed established goals. In addition to leading an assigned PPAI brand portfolio, the role includes the management of a direct report.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy — 25%

  • Understand goals and objectives of all marketing requests and campaigns;
  • Develop tailored marketing strategies that align with client budgets and desired outcomes, while adhering to PPAI brand standards and reinforcing organization’s vision and mission.
  • Conduct market research to understand target audiences, industry trends, and any relevant competition to create data-driven marketing plans.
  • Author marketing briefs that are designed to drive results and achieve desired goals.

Project/Campaign Management — 25%

  • Create annual marketing plans for assigned business portfolio
  • Plan, implement, and manage holistic marketing campaigns across digital, print, social media, website, and other channels
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Marketing team members to develop and maintain a comprehensive communications and content calendar, ensuring deliverables do not overlap and/or compete with other marketing initiatives.
  • Utilize PPAI workflow management platform to build out project plans/workback schedules, providing accountability and visibility to client stakeholders and others responsible for associated deliverables.
  • Maintain accuracy in workflow platform for all assigned business units, ensuring all projects are moving forward in the process.
  • Schedule and lead marketing meetings
  • Partner with Sr. Creative Services Manager to oversee the creative process for projects and deliverables.
  • Facilitate status meetings with key stakeholders
  • Create post-mortem presentations after each campaign and present them to stakeholders
  • Perform writing, proofing, and editorial services as required.
  • Work directly with marketing department designers and videographers for direct mail, telemarketing, video production, email and online advertising assets.
  • Oversee and/or execute social media and website initiatives related to campaign tactics

Client Communications & Reporting — 25%

  • Serve as the primary marketing strategist and relationship lead for assigned business units, ensuring marketing plans, priorities, and initiatives align with the association’s overall strategic goals, brand standards, and organizational objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence of communication with business unit leaders, providing transparent updates, project visibility through the project management platform, performance insights, and strategic recommendations that support business unit and association-wide success.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and refine marketing strategies, independently managing feedback, priorities, and requests while ensuring marketing activities remain aligned with enterprise priorities and deliver measurable value.
  • Leverage marketing analytics, business intelligence tools, and performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies, optimize campaigns and initiatives, and communicate key outcomes, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Budget Management — 5%

  • Independently manage the marketing budgets for assigned clients, ensuring that campaigns are executed within financial parameters, recommending strategic budget optimizations to clients and the Director of Marketing.
  • Track monthly spending, report on budget status, and adjust plans as needed to stay on track.

Market Research/Trends Analysis — 5%

  • Stay updated on the latest marketing trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Conduct ongoing research into competitive landscape and consumer behavior to ensure strategies remain relevant and effective.

Personnel Management — 15%

  • Manage one (1) direct report
  • Coach, mentor, and conduct weekly 1:1’s
  • Provide real-time feedback, and annual performance reviews

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of marketing management or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media, websites, and marketing analytics.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple stakeholders, projects, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organization, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with tools such as HubSpot, Sprout Social, WordPress, Monday.com,
  • Microsoft 365, Canva, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing Strategies & Campaigns. Strong understanding of strategic marketing principles and experience in developing both short-term and long-term marketing plans with a holistic approach.
  • Ability to serve as a key contributor to brand development.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, extract actionable insights, and optimize marketing strategies accordingly
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions for marketing challenges, while adapting to changing client needs.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that all campaigns are executed accurately and deliver high-quality results.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines efficiently.
