Position: Senior Math Instructor – Part-Time

Schedule: Primarily weekday evenings, with some Saturday availability

Mathnasium of Garland is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Math Instructor to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a retired or former teacher, professor, experienced tutor, educator, or math professional who enjoys working with students and is looking for meaningful part-time evening work.

At Mathnasium, we help students understand math, build confidence, and develop strong problem-solving skills. Our individualized instruction allows instructors to work with students at different grade levels and ability levels in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Senior Math Instructor Responsibilities

• Provide individualized math instruction using the Mathnasium Method
• Work with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade across a range of math levels
• Teach and support students in areas including arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, Algebra II, and higher-level mathematics based on qualifications
• Guide students through problem-solving rather than simply providing answers
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Identify areas where students need additional support and adjust instruction accordingly
• Build positive relationships with students and encourage confidence and a growth mindset
• Collaborate with the Center Director and instructional team to support student learning goals
• Help maintain a professional, organized, and positive learning environment
• Serve as a senior resource and role model for other instructors when appropriate
• Assist with onboarding, mentoring, or supporting newer instructors based on experience

Qualifications & Requirements

Prior teaching or tutoring experience is REQUIRED.

We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds such as:

• Former educators looking for flexible part-time work
• Professionals with substantial experience teaching mathematics

Additional requirements:

• Strong command of mathematics through at least Algebra II; higher-level math competency strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to students with different learning styles
• Patient, encouraging, and student-focused approach
• Comfortable working with students of varying ages and abilities
• Professional, dependable, and responsible
• Willingness to learn and use the Mathnasium Method and curriculum
• Comfortable working in a technology-supported learning environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must pass a background check
• All applicants will be required to complete a math literacy/proficiency assessment covering material from approximately Grade 2 through Algebra and beyond, as applicable

Important

This position is intended for experienced educators, instructors, tutors, and math professionals. Prior teaching or tutoring experience is required. This is not a student/entry-level position.

Schedule

The position is primarily focused on after-school/evening hours, with opportunities for additional hours based on center needs and candidate availability.

Typical hours may include:

Monday–Thursday: Approximately 3:30 PM–7:30 PM

Saturday: Approximately 9:45 AM–1:00 PM

We are particularly interested in candidates who can consistently commit to multiple weekday evenings.
