Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – OnsiteBase pay range: $52.00/hr – $85.00/hrOur client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program and the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE). This position reports to the MCFR Mechanical Design Manager. The role centers on design and analysis of mechanical systems, beginning with supporting the Non-nuclear MCRE Mockup and evolving toward ownership and delivery of MCRE hardware. You'll collaborate with vendors, project engineers, and group leads in a high-performing, multi-disciplinary environment to deliver hardware for the first liquid-fueled, fast spectrum reactor, which is to be built and operated at Idaho National Laboratory.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate input and requirements from the Engineering and Project team to produce mechanical design solutions.Make 3D models of structures, systems, and components.Conduct detailed mechanical analysis of structures, systems, and components, including hand calculations and finite element analysis.Create engineering drawings, applying ASME 14.1 and Y14.5 standards.Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.Develop and write design specifications, mechanical load descriptions, and other technical documentation.Coordinate vendor activities and review vendor submittals.Present mechanical design results for key stakeholders.Key Qualifications and SkillsB.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university and 6+ years of relevant experience or M.S. in Mechanical or related discipline with 3+ years of experience.Engineer in training (EIT) or licensed PE desired.Recent experience with mechanical analysis software (ANSYS preferred).Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks preferred).Demonstrated ability to deliver qualified hardware and supporting documentation.Skilled in detail-oriented review of drawings, documents, and calculations to ensure consistency, precision, and technical rigor.Experience working under a Quality Program (for example, NQA-1 or ISO 9001).High degree of trust and integrity, open communication, respect, and desire to foster teamwork.Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.Seniority levelMid‑Senior levelEmployment typeContractJob functionEngineering and Other – Industries: Engines and Power Transmission Equipment Manufacturing, Electric Power Generation, and Electric Power Transmission, Control, and Distribution#J-18808-Ljbffr
