We are partnering with a well-established industrial equipment manufacturer seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. This is a hands-on design role supporting the development and customization of heavy-duty industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
\n
\n
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine design, mechanical systems, fabricated equipment, and manufacturing, with the ability to take projects from concept through detailed design and production.
\n
\n
Responsibilities
\n
\n
Design and develop custom industrial machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
\n
Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
\n
Design fabricated and machined components including frames, enclosures, structural assemblies, shafts, bearings, drives, and related mechanical systems.
\n
Perform engineering calculations related to loads, stresses, forces, tolerances, and component selection.
\n
Develop and maintain Bills of Materials and engineering documentation.
\n
Select motors, gearboxes, bearings, actuators, pneumatic components, and other mechanical components.
\n
Work closely with manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, purchasing, and other engineering team members.
\n
Support equipment builds, troubleshooting, testing, and design modifications on the manufacturing floor.
\n
Review customer specifications and develop customized equipment solutions.
\n
Improve existing machinery for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
\n
Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers/designers.
\n
Support projects from initial concept through manufacturing, installation, and final completion.
\n
\n
\n
Qualifications
\n
\n
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.
\n
5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably involving industrial machinery, capital equipment, automation, material handling, or custom equipment.
\n
Strong experience with 3D CAD and mechanical equipment design.
\n
Experience designing fabricated, welded, and machined components.
\n
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
\n
Experience with motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, pneumatics, hydraulics, or other machine components strongly preferred.
\n
Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and manage Bills of Materials.
\n
Comfortable working directly with manufacturing and troubleshooting equipment on the shop floor.
\n
Strong mechanical problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple custom engineering projects.
\n
Experience designing equipment from concept through production is highly preferred.
\n
\n
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys actually designing and building machinery, rather than sitting in a purely analytical or project-management position.
