This is a senior-level opportunity for a mechanical engineer who wants to lead impactful, technically sophisticated building projects while helping shape the future of high-performance infrastructure. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee the planning, design, and construction support of HVAC and mechanical building systems across healthcare, mission critical, higher education, and complex commercial developments. You’ll serve as both a technical leader and collaborative partner throughout the full project lifecycle—from concept development through construction completion.

The Integrated Design & Advisory (IDA) division brings together architecture, engineering, planning, and advisory services into a highly integrated project delivery environment. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex design challenges, mentoring technical teams, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to meaningful projects that demand both innovation and precision.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of HVAC and plumbing systems for healthcare, mission critical, higher education, and commercial building projects
  • Produce and oversee construction documents, system layouts, specifications, and technical details utilizing industry-standard design tools
  • Perform HVAC technical analyses, calculations, and system evaluations to support high-performance building design
  • Coordinate closely with architects, interior designers, electrical engineers, fire protection specialists, structural teams, and other disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal support, scope development, pricing, and fee estimates
  • Conduct client meetings, present technical solutions, and adjust designs to align with project goals and operational requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development initiatives within the engineering team
  • Conduct internal technical reviews (ITRs) and support overall quality assurance efforts
  • Perform field surveys and existing condition evaluations to support system design and construction planning
  • Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and technical coordination
  • Maintain awareness of emerging HVAC technologies, industry trends, and applicable engineering standards

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Mechanical Focus) required
  • Experience: 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within building systems design
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical building infrastructure
    • Deep understanding of IMC, IBC, and applicable mechanical and plumbing engineering codes and standards
    • Extensive technical writing and documentation experience
  • Communication: Strong client-facing communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills
  • Project Leadership: Proven ability to manage project quality, schedules, and technical execution across multiple assignments

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED AP, CPD, CEM, or related sustainability credentials
  • Experience supporting healthcare, mission critical, or higher education facilities
  • Background in design-build project delivery environments
  • Strong construction administration and field coordination experience
  • Experience mentoring engineering staff and leading technical project teams

Compensation & Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
