Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, develop, and support functional, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical systems and components for heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment.
This position will provide engineering design, integration, analysis, and execution support for new and existing vehicle platforms. Cooling system design experience is preferred, although candidates may qualify based on broader relevant mechanical engineering experience.
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience and is well suited for an engineer who can independently manage technical assignments while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Support the design, development, integration, and modification of components for new and existing vehicle platforms.
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and technical analysis in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and technical feasibility.
- Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
- Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet technical requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering layouts, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Utilize 3D CAD tools to develop and modify product designs.
- Support product changes through established engineering change and documentation processes.
- Provide engineering integration and execution support for vehicle and component designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, or other stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance for production and business continuity needs.
- Manage individual projects, portions of larger projects, or multiple concurrent engineering assignments.
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines, manufacturing teams, business stakeholders, customers, and external suppliers.
- Maintain project documentation supporting engineering analysis, research, design decisions, and historical records.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, presentations, and other engineering documentation.
- Provide guidance or mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians when working on common projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
