Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, analysis, and production of advanced defense systems, including ammunition handling systems, weapon systems, missile launchers, structural assemblies, mechanisms, and other military products. This role is responsible for developing mechanical designs, performing engineering analysis, creating detailed CAD models and drawings, and supporting products throughout the development and production lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering background, experience with PTC Creo, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Product Development
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for defense-related products.
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11.
- Develop engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, military specifications, and industry standards.
- Support product development from concept through production.
Engineering Analysis
- Perform engineering analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex mechanical systems.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, models, and test data.
- Evaluate designs for functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Solve complex engineering design and development challenges using sound engineering principles.
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Work closely with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to support production activities.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and product integration.
- Assist with resolving production issues and implementing design improvements.
- Support development of manufacturing processes and assembly tooling as needed.
Documentation & Technical Support
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including:
- Engineering drawings
- Design documentation
- Technical reports
- Test documentation
- Product revisions
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations when required.
- Maintain accurate engineering records throughout the product lifecycle.
Project & Customer Support
- Support project planning by providing input on schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Stay current on engineering technologies, design tools, and industry best practices.
- Maintain compliance with company safety policies and engineering procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience designing mechanical products using CAD software, preferably PTC Creo (Pro/ENGINEER).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and product development.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and working with internal or external fabrication shops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience in military or defense product development and production.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009 or Y14.5-2018).
- Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis.
- 2+ years of experience using Creo for modeling and drawing generation.
- Experience using Windchill or other PDM/EPDM systems.
- Experience developing precision assembly tooling.
- Familiarity with military and commercial engineering standards.
- Knowledge of current engineering software, tools, and technologies.

- Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and mechanical drawing creation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing, and product development.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical drawings, and test results.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer with experience designing complex mechanical systems for defense, aerospace, or other highly engineered products. They are proficient with Creo, understand manufacturing and production processes, and enjoy solving challenging engineering problems while supporting products from concept through production.
