JOB DESCRIPTION: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work from their McLeansville NC facility. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of mechanical devices, including tools, engines, and machines. They apply principles of engineering, physics, and materials science to create mechanical solutions that are safe, efficient, and reliable.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our client, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for the development of electronic and mechanical packaging design, and validation, including: static and dynamic analysis, structural and thermal analysis, shock and vibration, and design for manufacturability.

  • Demonstrated documentation experience - procedures, specifications, design packages, and engineering reports
  • Create, review, and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and design rationale
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design tools (3D, 2D, layout), such as Creo
  • Experience with Matlab / Simulink including dynamic simulation
  • Self-starting, detail-focused, problem solver
  • Structural analysis experience using Ansys
