Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The Microsoft portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world's largest online services.

We are looking for a Datacenter Engineering Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be part of the team responsible for the development of Microsoft's industry-leading datacenter designs in the AMER region.
This Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as a leader providing key input to other organizations and internal stakeholders. This position requires a understanding of datacenter HVAC cooling systems, cooling equipment selection, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, fuel systems and mechanical Building Automation System (BAS) controls. Responsibilities will encompass overseeing the specification and drawing development detailing all mechanical systems, and overall network topology and communication protocols required. Leading mechanical workgroups with representatives from AE firms and other key stakeholders within Microsoft. Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience
OR Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related technical engineering experience
OR Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related technical engineering experience
OR equivalent experience.
8+ years of technical experience designing complex mechanical systems.
8+ years of datacenter design experience in a consulting role.
6 years as lead designer focused on datacenter projects.
Experience with designing cooling systems for liquid-cooled IT hardware.
Experience designing mechanical HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fuel oil, and complex sequences of operations for mechanical systems for implementation in building automation systems.
Ability to lead a team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to hyperscale datacenter environments.
Understanding of commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
Ability to prepare and present using MS Office software packages
Able to travel domestically and internationally

Mechanical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
