Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in structural analysis and leadership in Static Load Testing, particularly within the aerospace sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NASTRAN-based finite element modeling and analysis, with a strong emphasis on static and quasi-static load cases. Familiarity with dynamic loads and modal analysis is a plus. AST is looking for talented professionals who are innovative, creative, and ready to challenge the status quo.Key ResponsibilitiesLead structural analysis of space vehicles, define failure cases, and write margin of safety reportsTranslate load states into Static Load qualification testing of structural assemblies in collaboration with structural dynamics peersLead test engineers and technicians during Static Load TestsAssist design engineers and cross-functional engineering teamsDisposition non-conformance issues and participate in failure review boardsQualificationsEducation:BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical fieldExperience:A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/structural analysis of spacecraftPreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, with an emphasis in structuresAbility to code in various languages or toolset APIs to automate tasks and improve efficiencyExperience with both automated and manual load trains in static testingSoft SkillsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsProven ability to work independently on complex problemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and deliverablesProven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teamsTechnology StackExpert-level proficiency in FEMAP / NASTRANMATLABStatic test load systemsMS Office SuitePhysical RequirementsAbility to work in a standard office environmentAbility to use a computer for extended periodsAbility to travel and work on-site during testing phasesTravel up to 10% as neededThis job description may not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
