A day in the life

By 9 a.m., you’ve reviewed overnight performance data from a customer site and outlined a root-cause plan for an unexpected vibration issue. Midday, you’re leading design tweaks to a critical mechanical assembly, validating changes with calculations and a quick simulation check. By late afternoon, you’re on the floor with the field service team—measuring, inspecting, and guiding a repair so the system can return to spec. You wrap the day documenting findings, drafting a concise report for the customer, and syncing with fabrication and sales to keep execution on track.

Role overview

We’re seeking a senior individual contributor who combines deep mechanical know-how with hands-on field instincts. You will analyze complex equipment behavior, design practical improvements, and support installation, inspection, repair, and commissioning activities to ensure systems perform reliably.

What you’ll tackle

  • Lead investigations into equipment performance, reliability, and failures—identify root causes and define corrective actions that stick.
  • Create and review mechanical designs, upgrades, and component evaluations to optimize system performance.
  • Own technical accuracy from concept through closeout, aligning work with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Guide field troubleshooting during inspections, repairs, and installations; provide on-site technical direction to service teams.
  • Develop engineering calculations, models, and formal reports to support decisions and deliverables.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand needs, present findings clearly, and recommend data-driven solutions.
  • Advance continuous improvement across design methods, documentation quality, and engineering processes.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, operations, and sales to ensure plans, materials, and timelines are aligned for successful outcomes.
  • Travel to client locations 30%–50% to capture field measurements, validate assumptions, and support execution—sometimes on short notice.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally with heavy industrial equipment or field service exposure.
  • Background in construction, installation, or commissioning of large industrial systems is a plus.
  • Expertise in failure analysis, mechanical design, and complex system troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD; familiarity with FEA or equivalent analysis methods.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Clear, confident communication with customers and cross-functional partners.
  • Hands-on field experience in industrial environments strongly preferred.
