LOCATION: This is a nationwide traveling position requiring frequent travel to project sites across the United States.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Senior Mechanical Foreman to be responsible for supervising work crews and performing various day-to-day tasks required in the field construction of aboveground storage tanks and/or mechanical fuel systems, including but not limited to executing any other general labor tasks as assigned.

Job Functions:

  • Supervise and assist and workers in their performance of assigned duties
  • Ensure equipment is inspected and maintained in proper working condition
  • Read and properly interpret engineering construction drawings
  • Conduct daily safety meetings (JHAs) when needed
  • Follow all safety rules, recognize and report safety hazards
  • Plan work as assigned and select proper tools
  • Follow welding specifications
  • Assist with hanging iron and fitting pipe
  • Provide professional, accurate field updates when interacting with client reps; reinforce trust through disciplined execution and communication.
  • Perform functions as a site superintendent
  • Perform functions as a site safety and health officer
  • Inspect work for compliance with standards, procedures, and welding/mechanical/electrical requirements; escalate deviations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Provide hands‑on direction, troubleshoot field issues, and mentor less experienced technicians and apprentices
  • Operate automatic welding equipment (if qualified)

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 10+ years of relevant pipe fitting experience
  • Experience in the petroleum system construction/repair industry
  • Possess the ability to comprehend and execute verbal and written instructions and demonstrate characteristics of strong work ethic, competent and self-motivated
  • Must be able to understand, read and write in English

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Must have a working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to fit structural plate and piping.

  • Ability to organize, record and present information in a clear accurate and concise manner
  • Must be able to pass the required weld test (SMAW/FCAW in all positions)
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations
