A commercial mechanical contractor in the Kansas City metro seeks a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial HVAC and plumbing projects from initial bid through final closeout. The company delivers design-build mechanical services supported by in-house fabrication. This role manages budgets, schedules, procurement, and coordination with engineers, general contractors, and field teams on projects from $500K to $5M+.

Annual base salary of $155,000 to $165,000, based on experience

Manage commercial HVAC and plumbing projects from $500K to $5M+, covering budget development, scheduling, procurement, and quality control. Own project performance from bid through closeout.
Coordinate daily with architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal installation teams. Resolve technical issues and keep timelines on track.
Prepare competitive bids and cost estimates using Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar software. Conduct site assessments and material takeoffs.
Manage submittals, permitting, and inspections. Ensure compliance with local building codes and ASHRAE standards.
Lead weekly project meetings and track change orders. Report on project health and profitability to executive leadership.
7+ years of progressively responsible experience managing commercial HVAC or mechanical projects. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling is required. PMP, LEED AP, or Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) is strongly preferred.
Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
Proven track record managing $1M+ projects. Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and load calculations.
Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Able to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Regular jobsite visits that involve walking, standing for extended periods, and moving over uneven terrain or through partially completed structures.
Able to climb ladders and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds during site inspections.
Work in both an office and field environment with exposure to weather. Standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend site visits during critical project phases.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel within a 50-mile radius.
Able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
