A well-established and respected law firm is seeking a Senior Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join its Bethlehem, PA office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants to handle sophisticated medical malpractice matters, work directly with clients and insurers, and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the firm's practice.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience defending physicians, hospitals, healthcare providers, and other medical professionals in complex malpractice and professional liability matters. The attorney will have significant responsibility over cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload of medical malpractice and professional liability defense matters from inception through trial.
Develop and implement case strategy, including liability and damages analysis.
Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, medical experts, and other witnesses.
Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery responses, briefs, and other litigation documents.
Work closely with insurance carriers, claims professionals, healthcare providers, and other clients.
Retain, prepare, and work with medical and other expert witnesses.
Participate in mediation, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution.
Handle hearings, conferences, and trials as appropriate.
Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely, practical legal advice.
Assist with mentoring and developing junior attorneys and litigation staff.

Job Details
Qualifications
7+ years of civil litigation experience, with significant medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred.
Pennsylvania Bar admission required; additional state admission is a plus.
Demonstrated experience managing complex litigation matters independently.
Strong deposition, motion practice, negotiation, and trial skills.
Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication abilities.
Experience working with insurance carriers and/or self-insured healthcare organizations preferred.
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines while maintaining a high level of client service.
