POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Senior MEP Engineer your roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is looking for a
Senior MEP Engineer to manage increasingly complex
mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities on commercial construction projects.
The role is involved throughout the project lifecycle, including
preconstruction, estimating, bidding, construction, quality control, scheduling, commissioning, and closeout.
Key Responsibilities- Develop mechanical and electrical estimates based on project/program and schematic design information.
- Review MEP system options and provide value engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes during the bidding process.
- Analyze bids and assist with subcontractor selection.
- Develop MEP sequencing and scheduling requirements.
- Review plans, specifications, and design documents for constructability and quality issues.
- Perform jobsite inspections to ensure work meets specifications.
- Review and approve shop drawings and submittals.
- Develop pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
- Develop and issue commissioning plans.
- Verify contractor functional testing and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
- Negotiate subcontracts and purchase equipment from vendors.
- Manage project resources and staffing.
- Mentor less-experienced MEP team members.
- Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Participate in interviews, presentations, and business development/winning work.
- Create innovative MEP tools and improve construction processes.
- Help manage project budgets, profitability, and future business opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills- Strong knowledge of MEP construction
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Construction estimating and budgeting
- Project scheduling and sequencing
- BIM experience
- Construction technology
- Commissioning and functional testing
- Shop drawing/submittal review
- Subcontractor and vendor management
- Lean construction principles
- Project budget/GMP/hard-bid experience
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Advanced presentation skills
- Ability to manage and collaborate with teams
EducationBachelor's degree required in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Architectural Engineering
- Related field
Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
