Do you thrive interpreting complex drawings, dialing in weld parameters, and turning large raw stock into precision assemblies? If so, this 100% onsite role in Newington, NH—reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor—may be for you.
What you’ll work on
- Fit and weld metal components to blueprint and engineering requirements.
- Execute internal seam welding inside large fabrications and components.
- Grind welds to spec; surface-prep the interior of large forgings for stainless-steel overlay.
- Set up and oversee automated welding on interior and exterior seams.
- Deburr edges and machined features using small powered hand tools.
- Cut and hand-assemble metal conduit and instrument panel housings on large cones.
- Lay out cylinders, plate, and cones to precise lengths and angles per drawings.
- Operate overhead lifting equipment in accordance with contract guidelines.
- After required training, demonstrate skill in SMAW (stainless and carbon plate), GTAW on stainless and carbon, and a range of thermal cutting/heating methods.
- Perform testing operations per engineering specifications.
- Prepare finished goods for shipment: wrap/pad, label or stencil crates with destination, weight, and contents; insert fillers/separators; band crates; verify counts; complete pack-and-ship Production Orders (clean, pack, tag).
What you’ll bring
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years in fabrication, or 1+ year as a Westinghouse Newington Fabrication Mechanic II.
- Fluency with engineering drawings, weld symbols, welding procedures, and dimensional control.
- Blueprint/sketch/plan reading plus hands-on layout for both large and small builds.
- Qualified and proficient in all positions on carbon and stainless using two welding processes.
- Proficiency with plasma cutting, carbon arc, oxy‑acetylene burning/cutting, and grinding.
Production welding readiness
You should be proficient in Welding Setups for Production and able to obtain/maintain welding qualifications aligned to applicable ASME acceptance criteria.
