Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer

Hybrid Schedule: 1 day in office per week minimum

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer to serve as a senior technical expert responsible for the architecture, engineering, implementation, and ongoing support of Microsoft 365 cloud services. This role has a strong emphasis on SharePoint Online engineering and solution development, while also supporting Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, Entra ID, Defender, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and emerging Microsoft AI technologies. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical leadership, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business needs into secure, scalable cloud solutions.

Duties

• Architect, configure, administer, and optimize Microsoft 365 services across the enterprise.

• Serve as a senior technical SME for SharePoint Online, designing modern sites, lists, metadata structures, workflows, integrations, and business-focused collaboration solutions.

• Develop scalable SharePoint solutions and integrations with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and approved third-party applications.

• Establish and maintain Microsoft 365 and SharePoint architecture, governance, development, security, and lifecycle standards.

• Design and implement Microsoft Purview solutions, including data classification, sensitivity labels, retention policies, information lifecycle management, and DLP.

• Develop business process automation and applications using Power Automate and Power Apps.

• Create advanced PowerShell scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

• Support Entra ID, authentication, Conditional Access, MFA, Defender, and other Microsoft cloud security capabilities.

• Evaluate Microsoft product roadmaps and emerging technologies, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio, and recommend opportunities for secure adoption.

• Provide advanced troubleshooting, technical guidance, and escalation support for complex Microsoft 365 issues.

• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective cloud solutions.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and technical certifications.

• Advanced experience engineering and administering Microsoft 365 enterprise environments.

• Advanced SharePoint Online experience, including modern site development, lists, metadata, integrations, automation, governance, and solution design.

• Strong experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps.

• Experience implementing Microsoft Purview capabilities, including sensitivity labels, retention policies, classification, information governance, and DLP.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, authentication, Conditional Access, MFA, and Microsoft cloud security.

• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

• Ability to independently research, evaluate, design, and implement complex technical solutions.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and leadership.

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing enterprise-scale SharePoint architecture and reusable components.

• Experience integrating SharePoint with Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, and other Microsoft services.

• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 governance, security, compliance, and information lifecycle best practices.

• Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI agents, connectors, or other emerging Microsoft AI technologies.

• Experience developing enterprise technical standards, architecture documentation, and governance frameworks.

• Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, Power Platform, or security/compliance.

• Experience evaluating emerging Microsoft technologies and developing adoption strategies.
