Senior Microsoft Fabric Engineer

The Senior Microsoft Fabric Engineer supports the governance and security of data within the Fabric platform to ensure it is prepared for analytics and AI workloads. This role applies Microsoft Purview and Fabric's built-in governance features to support security, compliance, and data quality standards on all data and reports. Work includes implementing data classification, access controls and data loss prevention policies under established guidelines. The Senior Microsoft Fabric Engineer will assist with monitoring how Copilot driven activity affects capacity and performance across Fabric workloads and support adjustments that maintain stable operations. Through consistent governance, scalable design and strong platform stewardship, the engineer contributes to a reliable and AI ready environment that supports high quality data and analytics outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the design and maintenance of scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric tools. • Assist with integrating and optimizing data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes for analytics and AI readiness. • Support Copilot experiences across Fabric workloads (Data Engineering, Data Science, Power BI, etc.). • Build and manage semantic models and Power BI datasets to support Copilot's generative AI capabilities. • Monitor and manage Fabric capacity to ensure Copilot usage does not disrupt other workloads. • Apply data governance, security, and compliance controls using Microsoft Purview and Fabric's native controls. • Collaborate with technical stakeholders to align Fabric infrastructure with Copilot integration needs by integrating new data sources and connectors, refining data workflows and improving the delivery of AI generated insights. • Support AI-driven analytics by ensuring high-quality, well-governed, and accessible data for Copilot interactions. • Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize data workflows for large-scale, AI-enhanced analytics. • Support business users and teams in leveraging Copilot within the Fabric environment.

Essential Skills:

• Experience supporting ETL and ELT development and working with Fabric data engineering capabilities. • Knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse design principles. • Experience with semantic modeling, DAX and Power BI dataset management. • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview governance features and related security and compliance controls. • Ability to support monitoring of Fabric platform capacity and apply Azure data engineering concepts. • Readiness to support AI and Copilot driven workloads. • Ability to collaborate across technical functions and communicate clearly with partners. • Experience with platform performance optimization and troubleshooting. • Ownership mindset, problem solver, curious, and proactive. • Continuous growth mindset, keep learning through social experiences and relationships with stakeholders, experts, colleagues and mentors as well as widen and broaden your competencies through structural courses and programs.
