Position Summary

The Senior Minister serves as the primary spiritual leader, teacher, and vision-caster for Heritage Church, working in partnership with the Governing Board (Elders) to lead the church in fulfilling its mission and vision. This role provides leadership to staff and ministries, oversees the direction of weekend services, and represents the church within the congregation and community.

Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Heritage Governing Board (Elders)
Direct Report: Senior Minister's Executive Assistant / Senior Administrator

Responsibilities:

Preaching & Teaching

Serve as the primary preacher and teacher during weekend services, preaching at least 75% of services annually.
Prepare and plan sermon series, weekly messages, and long-term teaching direction.
Collaborate with Worship, Children's, and Student Ministers to align service themes and ministry content.

Vision & Leadership

Work with the Governing Board (the Elders) to develop, communicate, and implement the church's mission and vision.
Provide leadership and encouragement to staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers by empowering them to discover and use their spiritual gifts.
Foster unity, spiritual growth, and discipleship within the church family.
Represent the church in community and Kingdom-focused partnerships.

Staff & Organizational Leadership

Participate actively in the Administrative Team.
Support staff development through coaching, communication, and regular review processes.
Maintain clear communication with the Governing Board regarding church ministries and congregational health.
Assist in oversight of church operations and finances in partnership with leadership teams.

Pastoral Care & Relationships

Build meaningful relationships with members, visitors, staff, and Elders.
Provide pastoral support through hospital visits, weddings, funerals, counseling, and member care.
Maintain an approachable and collaborative leadership style.

Personal & Spiritual Development

Pursue ongoing spiritual and professional growth through study, prayer, mentoring, retreats, and continuing education.

Weekly Expectations

Lead weekly staff meetings for communication, planning, and ministry coordination.
Maintain regular communication with Elders and Administrative Team members.
Dedicate consistent time to sermon preparation, study, and ministry planning.
Engage with members and visitors throughout the week and during church gatherings.

Formal theological training required or pursuing formal training
