Senior Modeling and Simulations Engineer / Assistant Technical Director CFT is seeking a highly experienced Senior Modeling and Simulations (M&S) Engineer to serve a dual role as our Assistant Technical Director. Operating out of our Newport News and Langley AFB locations, you will be a cornerstone of our technical leadership team. In this capacity, you will lead the design, development, and execution of complex defense simulations while also assisting the Technical Director in driving technical strategy, overseeing project execution, and mentoring engineering staff. This role bridges the gap between high-level tactical architectures and the granular simulations required to prove their operational viability.Requirements Clearance Requirement: Active DoD Secret Security ClearanceTechnical Leadership & Direction:Strategic Execution: Partner with the Technical Director to establish technical standards, shape strategic engineering initiatives, and ensure the successful delivery of complex technical projects.Team Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to mid-level and junior engineers, analysts, and project teams.Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary technical liaison with defense clients, presenting complex analytical findings, architectural designs, and simulation results to senior military decision-makers.Quality Assurance: Oversee the technical rigor of all project deliverables, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with mission objectives.Modeling & Simulations Engineering:Simulation Architecture: Lead the development, integration, and execution of advanced models and simulations focusing on military communications, networking systems, and multi-domain operations.Scenario Development: Design high-fidelity operational scenarios to test system capabilities, evaluate vulnerabilities, and optimize tactical network performance in contested environments.Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical techniques to process simulation outputs, translating raw data into actionable insights for mission engineering and acquisition decisions.Tool Integration: Maintain and integrate various M&S software tools, environments, and frameworks required to support DoD-level analysis.Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance.Experience: Senior-level professional experience (typically 8–10+ years) in systems engineering and modeling/simulations within the DoD or defense industry, coupled with proven technical leadership or management experience.Technical Skills: Deep expertise in defense-standard modeling and simulation tools and frameworks (e.g., AFSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, STK, or similar).Strong background in systems architecture, mission engineering, and data analysis.Familiarity with military C4 (Command, Control, Communications, and Computers) and tactical networking systems.Work Style: Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site with minimal telework.CFT is proud to offer a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and professional growth of our employees.
