Senior Multi-Axis CNC Setup Machinist

Ready to own complex CNC setups on a 4-day week?

Shift: Monday–Thursday, 2nd shift options: Noon–10:00 pm or 2:00 pm–12:30 am

Extras: $2/hr shift differential and a $4,000 sign-on bonus

• Do you thrive setting up CNC lathes and mills and dialing in tight tolerances?
• Can you read blueprints, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot on the fly?
• Are you comfortable mentoring others and occasionally stepping in for a Production Group Leader?

What you’ll do

• Use process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets/cards, machine status boards, plus written and verbal instructions to plan work.
• Machine and install or re-cut chuck jaws.
• Insert and secure tooling in machine turrets; use hand tools and manual machines as needed.
• Perform independent machine setups and verify preset gauge calibration.
• Download/upload CNC programs and make minor programming edits.
• Run various CNC controls to perform turning, drilling, milling, and tapping within tight tolerances.
• Tune offsets to account for material, tooling wear, or machine conditions.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and make effective adjustments.
• Inspect your own work, complete documentation, and inspect work of other machinists when assigned.
• Operate multiple machines; rotate through department work centers as required.
• Enter data into the ERP system; support continuous improvement/RBS activities.
• Train less experienced machinists and fill in for the Production Group Leader when needed.

What you bring

• Experience on CNC lathes and/or CNC mills (two machine types preferred) with solid setup capability.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of related CNC machining experience and knowledge of CNC machining methods.
• Proficiency in shop math; ability to read/interpret English blueprints and work instructions.
• External candidates must pass a Machinist test (mechanical aptitude).
• Ability to stand the full shift and lift up to 50 lbs; frequent tooling changes and inspections.
