Senior NetApp Engineer (Automation & AI Operations)

We are seeking a Senior NetApp Resident Engineer to embed with the Storage Systems Group (SSG) and accelerate automation and AI-enabled operations across a large, multi-site ONTAP environment. This role combines deep NetApp ONTAP expertise with hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) skills in Terraform and Ansible, plus practical experience applying AI/ML technologies to storage operations.

The successful candidate will work directly with SSG leadership and engineering teams on strategic initiatives involving fleet lifecycle management, operational automation, and ServiceNow ITOM/AIOps integrations. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior storage professional who is passionate about modern automation, predictive operations, and AI-assisted infrastructure management.

SENIOR NETAPP ENGINEERS AT TSP TYPICALLY HAVE THE FOLLOWING JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks/roles for:

• ONTAP provisioning

• SVM and volume lifecycle management

• SnapMirror and SnapCenter operations

• Fleet-wide configuration drift remediation

• Partner with SSG engineers to enhance and standardize existing automation initiatives, including:

• Self-service backup and restore workflows

• Capacity reclamation scripting

• Version-controlled IaC pipelines

• Leverage AI/ML technologies and tools, including:

• NetApp BlueXP and AIOps capabilities

• Anomaly detection solutions

• LLM-assisted diagnostics and troubleshooting

• Drive improvements in:

• Incident response times

• Predictive capacity planning

• Fleet health management

• Support integrations between:

• ONTAP telemetry platforms

• Metabase and Snowflake reporting environments

• ServiceNow ITOM Event Management webhook pipelines

• Automate and support:

• NetApp Snapshot and FlexClone technologies

• NFS datastore lifecycle management

• Develop and maintain:

• Operational runbooks

• Automation architecture documentation

• Technical procedures and best practices

• Provide knowledge transfer and technical mentoring to SSG engineers on Infrastructure-as-Code and AI-assisted operations
