WORK LOCATION:  Hanscom AFB, MA (In Office/On Base 5 days a week)

 

SALARY RANGE:  $155,000 - $175,000 *

*depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  MUST have an active Secret security clearance

 

 

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to support the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) program at Hanscom AFB, MA. 

 

The SAOC program is a Major Defense Acquisition Program tasked with leading the development and delivery of the replacement fleet for the E-4B National Airborne Operations (NAOC).    

 

**  For this position, we are looking to hire a “network architect” who is familiar with network configurations in various domains [terrestrial, airborne [tactical/operational], and satellite, and for the range of security classification levels

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist in the conduct of reviews on the SAOC program to evaluate and/or recommend airborne command and control network architecture plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform network-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications
  • Review the aircraft network plans and architecture developed by the program's prime contractor, and provide critical analysis and recommendations for program government engineering leadership in support of program decisions and the program prime contractor's contract obligations.
  • Perform validation of SAOC mission systems from a holistic network architecture perspective, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
  • Provide network engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness
  • Provide recommendations to government engineering leadership for cross-domain network solutions to address multi-faceted and tiered network connectivity and essential redundancies
  • Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum: Engineering degree, and 15 years of experience in systems/network engineering and/or weapon systems development, 8 of which must be in support of DoD acquisition contracts; or 20 years of experience in a engineering discipline, 10 of which must be in support of the DoD.
  • Requires experience with network security across the range of security classification levels
  • Prefer tactical/operational/strategic communmications network experience with major aircraft development programs
  • Progressive experience in network engineering development projects, to include engineering documentation, design , engineering changes and notices, and planning/conducting design audits to enable government ownership of the program technical baseline
  • MUST have an active US Security Clearance
