Opportunity Overview

Northramp is seeking a Senior Network Engineer (Cloud Developer 4) to join the team supporting the client's Cloud BPA Bridge program — a mission-critical effort to consolidate, modernize, and operate client's enterprise cloud services across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments under FedRAMP High authorization.

You will shape the architecture of client's network environment — owning reliability, security, and efficiency across multi-cloud and on-premises infrastructure. The role combines deep technical expertise with project leadership and cross-functional collaboration, integrating modern networking technologies in support of client's mission objectives.

This role is part of Northramp's integrated delivery model, where engineers and advisors work as one team to bring sound judgment, disciplined execution, and deep federal experience to high-stakes modernization programs.

Location & Work Arrangement

Hybrid, based in the Washington, DC metro area. On-site presence at designated client locations is expected on a cadence aligned to program needs. Remote work is supported around mission and security requirements. This role is not open to candidates outside the DC region.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ve led complex network programs across SD-WAN, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments. You’re fluent in Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto infrastructure; you understand modern security standards and can implement them; and you have the project-management discipline to drive initiatives from design through execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated network architectures supporting client's needs. Evaluate, recommend, and integrate emerging network technologies for scalability and security.
  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed network documentation and diagrams; ensure operational integrity through proactive management and optimization of network resources.
  • Serve as a senior technical leader, guiding junior engineers and collaborating across IT teams to advance strategic objectives.
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex network issues; lead installations, site surveys, and significant upgrades and repairs.
  • Direct system capacity planning; conduct configuration and security audits; lead strategic projects with colocation facilities and broader network strategy development.
  • Oversee IP allocation and management; execute network strategies for optimal performance and security.
  • Lead next-generation networking initiatives, leveraging vendor and partner relationships to evaluate and implement new technologies. Drive decisions on technology investments and implementations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering with deep multi-cloud and security experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Extensive experience in complex network environments — SD-WAN, cloud and on-premises firewalls, network access control, wireless environments, and multi-cloud networking on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Deep cloud-native infrastructure understanding, including virtual networks, security groups, and identity management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the OSI model, routing, switching, and security concepts (RADIUS, 802.1X). Demonstrated experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto infrastructure.
  • Operational mastery of cloud environments, network and routing protocols, Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, and Software Defined Networking.
  • Proven leadership; track record of leading technical teams and projects. Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies and strong project management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of security standards (STIGs), vulnerability management, and vendor best practices.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS suitability / Public Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud certifications.
  • CISSP.
  • Advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE).
  • DHS, or other federal program experience.
  • Active Public Trust or higher clearance.

Clearance

DHS suitability and a Public Trust background investigation are required for this role. Active Public Trust or higher clearance is preferred. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled or classified information.
