Senior Network Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Job Description:
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available network infrastructure across data centers, branch offices, and cloud environments. This is a 6+ month contract-to-hire opportunity based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This role will focus on supporting enterprise data center networks, advanced routing, cloud-managed networking solutions, and automation efforts. Responsibilities include evaluating new networking technologies, improving network performance, and helping drive long-term modernization initiatives across the infrastructure.
The Senior Network Engineer will also contribute to automation for recurring tasks, mentor team members, support cross-functional teams, and participate in an on-call rotation for critical escalations.
Required Skills:
• 10+ years of experience in a Network Engineering role
• Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting data center networks using Spine-Leaf architectures
• Experience with VXLAN and EVPN in Cisco Nexus environments
• Advanced routing experience with BGP and OSPF
• Experience designing and supporting cloud-managed networking solutions including SD-WAN, switching, and wireless
• Experience with Cisco Meraki
• Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, or Terraform
• Strong troubleshooting and network performance optimization skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Bonus/Soft Skills:
• Industry certifications such as CCNP or CCIE
• Experience with infrastructure technologies including virtualization, containerization, load balancing, DDoS protection, and security
• Experience designing and supporting cloud environments in GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Experience with network monitoring and performance tools such as SolarWinds, Grafana, Prometheus, or Wireshark
• Strong mentoring and leadership abilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
