LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a leading infrastructure and project driven organization is seeking a Senior Operational Finance Manager to support a high growth business unit. This role sits at the intersection of operations, finance, accounting, and project execution, partnering closely with operational leadership to ensure financial accuracy, disciplined forecasting, and strong project performance across complex, large scale initiatives.

Reporting to the Business Unit Controller, this position serves as a key financial advisor to operations and project management teams, delivering insights that support decision making, risk management, and financial controls. The role includes team leadership responsibilities and hands-on involvement in project financial oversight.

Senior Operational Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial & Project Oversight • Lead and develop a team of up to three finance or project accounting professionals • Oversee financial performance of jobs and projects, including revenue recognition, accruals, expense coding, billing, cost controls, and analytics • Ensure accurate financial reporting related to project costs, margins, and timelines • Monitor customer billings, open purchase orders, and expense trends

  • Operational Partnership • Partner with Operations, Project Management, Accounting, and Finance teams to understand project financial results and drivers • Serve as the primary financial liaison for project teams, addressing ad hoc financial questions and analysis • Perform causation-based variance analysis and communicate results to operational and finance leadership

  • Forecasting, Planning & Analysis • Forecast project and job financial results to support resource allocation and business decisions • Identify risks and opportunities within project forecasts • Track and assess backlog at the business unit level • Provide reliable data for ongoing forecasting, planning, P&L, and cash flow analysis

  • Controls, Compliance & Process • Ensure adherence to established business processes, policies, and procedures • Maintain an effective control environment across financial and project activities • Support compliance with organizational and government reporting requirements • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial and operational processes

  • Ad Hoc & Strategic Analysis • Perform special analyses related to productivity, utilization, cost efficiency, and operational performance • Support leadership with data-driven insights to improve project outcomes and financial results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Cost Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • 4-10 years of experience in accounting, finance, cost engineering, or project-based environments
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, and internal controls
  • Strong understanding of data-driven decision making and financial modeling
  • Experience supporting large, complex projects or operations preferred
