The Senior OT Support Analyst is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Operational Technology (OT) systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient upstream oil and gas operations. This role serves as a key technical resource supporting SCADA systems, production optimization platforms, field communications, and operational data infrastructure across the organization. 

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of upstream production operations, field automation, and industrial control environments. This individual will work closely with Operations, Production Engineering, Field Automation, and IT teams to ensure OT systems remain secure, available, and optimized while supporting the organization's digital transformation initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Operational Technology Support & Administration 

  • Provide day-to-day administration, support, and troubleshooting of Operational Technology systems across producing assets. 

  • Support the reliability, performance, and availability of SCADA, telemetry, automation, and production optimization platforms. 

  • Monitor OT environments proactively, identifying and resolving system issues before they impact operations. 

  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities for OT-related outages and performance issues. 

  • Maintain system documentation, configuration standards, support procedures, and asset inventories. 

SCADA & Production Systems Support 

  • Administer and support CygNet SCADA environments, ensuring reliable data collection, monitoring, alarming, and field communications. 

  • Support field integrations involving RTUs, PLCs, flow computers, and telemetry devices. 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot data acquisition, communications, and historian connectivity issues. 

  • Collaborate with field personnel and automation vendors to diagnose and resolve operational technology issues. 

  • Assist with system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment of new OT technologies. 

Operational Data & Historian Platforms 

  • Administer and support Canary Labs Historian environments, ensuring reliable collection, storage, and availability of operational data. 

  • Support data quality initiatives by identifying and resolving data gaps, communication failures, and data integrity issues. 

  • Partner with Data & Analytics teams to facilitate operational data integration into enterprise reporting and analytics platforms. 

  • Assist in developing and maintaining data validation, monitoring, and reporting processes. 

Production Optimization & Digital Oilfield Support 

  • Support XSPOC/Optilift and related production optimization platforms used by Production Engineering and Operations teams. 

  • Assist users with troubleshooting production optimization workflows, calculations, alarms, and reporting. 

  • Support integrations between production systems, SCADA platforms, and enterprise data environments. 

  • Work closely with production engineers to improve system utilization and operational effectiveness. 

OT Infrastructure & Field Technology 

  • Support field communications infrastructure including cellular, radio, satellite, and network-connected field devices. 

  • Coordinate with IT infrastructure teams to maintain connectivity, security, and performance of OT systems. 

  • Assist with deployment and support of field hardware, edge devices, and remote monitoring solutions. 

  • Participate in technology refresh and lifecycle management initiatives for OT hardware and software. 

Cybersecurity, Compliance & Governance 

  • Support cybersecurity initiatives for OT environments in partnership with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams. 

  • Follow established procedures for access management, patching, vulnerability remediation, and change control. 

  • Assist with OT audits, compliance reviews, and documentation activities. 

  • Promote adherence to OT standards, policies, and operational best practices. 

Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement 

  • Build strong working relationships with Operations, Production Engineering, Field Personnel, and IT teams. 

  • Provide end-user support, training, and technical guidance for OT applications and platforms. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and increased operational efficiency. 

  • Participate in projects supporting digital field operations, automation, and operational data initiatives. 

Qualifications & Experience: 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field preferred. 

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered. 

 

Technical Skills & Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience supporting Operational Technology, SCADA, automation, or industrial systems within upstream oil and gas operations. 

  • Experience supporting Canary Labs Historian or comparable industrial historian platforms. 

  • Experience with XSPOC/Optilift or similar production optimization applications. 

  • Familiarity with PLCs, RTUs, flow computers, telemetry systems, and field communications infrastructure. 

  • Understanding of industrial networking, networking, OT system architecture, and field automation technologies. 

  • Experience supporting operational data integration and historian environments. 

  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and industrial control system best practices. 

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Strong understanding of upstream production operations, facilities, artificial lift systems, and field automation. 

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities. 

  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across technical and operational teams. 

  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to support both field and corporate users. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple operational and project-related activities simultaneously. 

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to field offices and operational sites as needed. 

  • Potential exposure to remote and high-risk environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols. 

  • May involve walking, climbing, bending, or handling equipment during site visits. 

  • Possible exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) while on-site at field locations. 

  • Availability for after-hours support, scheduled maintenance activities, and operational incident response when .
