Position Overview

Only qualified Senior Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineers located in or near Richmond, VA will be considered due to the hybrid work requirement.

The client is seeking an experienced Oracle OCI Engineer with extensive expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Database Administration, Oracle APEX, WebLogic, and enterprise cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database migrations, performance tuning, automation, disaster recovery, and production support within large-scale Oracle environments.

Preferred Certification

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Professional (OCIP)
• Oracle Certified Expert (OCE)

Required Experience & Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and enterprise Oracle technologies.
• 7+ years of experience administering Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control 13c.
• 5+ years of Oracle APEX administration and support.
• 10+ years of Oracle database migration experience from Solaris to Linux (Oracle 11g/12c).
• 10+ years of Oracle database administration, backup, recovery, RMAN, and Data Guard.
• 10+ years of Oracle database performance tuning, maintenance, and administration.
• 10+ years providing on-call production support for mission-critical environments.

• Oracle Application Express (APEX) 18.x or later
• Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22.x or later
• Oracle WebLogic Server 14c (Fusion Middleware & WebLogic Suite)

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Python and JavaScript scripting.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Willingness to participate in a 24x7 production support rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments, including databases, middleware, and infrastructure components.
• Administer and support Oracle APEX applications and Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle WebLogic Server environments.
• Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and platform conversions.
• Implement backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard.
• Ensure high availability, security, and reliability of Oracle database environments.
• Monitor and optimize database performance while implementing performance tuning recommendations.
• Automate routine administration tasks using Shell scripting, GitLab, and Ansible.
• Collaborate with application development and DevOps teams to support application deployments.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolution.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and best practices for Oracle OCI environments.
