Job Title: Senior Packaging Engineer
Location: Tempe, Arizona
Type: Contract
Compensation: $70 - $80/hr
Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Overview
Join a collaborative, innovation-driven leader in the regulated manufacturing industry as a Packaging Engineer supporting the development and validation of packaging solutions that ensure products are transported safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. In this hands-on contract role, you'll partner with cross-functional teams to drive packaging design, verification and validation activities, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives while contributing to impactful projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs packaging equipment and materials for safe, convenient, and attractive transport of goods under a variety of conditions.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to determine the required type of packaging materials and to maximize convenience, utility, and function based on the product's physical characteristics, safety, and special-handling requirements.
  • Evaluates packaging and transporting methods and procedures to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Evaluates and recommends efficient packing procedures, innovations in packaging materials, and utilization of sealing and fastening devices.
  • Ensures compliance with regulated industry packaging design standards.
  • Performs design verification and validation processes.
  • Conducts root cause analysis on packaging test failures.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on supplier management and project leadership initiatives.
Requirements
  • Regulated industry packaging design experience.
  • Experience with design verification and validation.
  • Experience with packaging test failure root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering or a related field and 2+ years of packaging industry experience OR Associate’s Degree in packaging or related field and 4+ years of packaging industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials and methods.
  • Project leadership skills (preferred).
  • Experience with supplier management (preferred).
  • Equipment qualification experience (preferred).
